Default Resident Evil TV series

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/tvnews.php?id=123952

Quote:
After our earlier report on The Mortal Instruments becoming a TV show, it turns out two more female-centric action franchises are getting the small screen treatment as long-running series Resident Evil and Underworld head to TV!

Despite a delay in production due to Milla Jovovich having another baby with her husband/series mastermind Paul W.S. Anderson, the sixth film, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, could be followed by a spin-off show from Constantin Film, according to Variety. Constantin chairman Martin Moszkowicz confirmed that the company is moving aggressively at "starting production next year on at least two or three international shows," including Resident Evil and The Mortal Instruments.

If it doesn't stick closely to the early games in tone and character then there's no chance in hell I'll watch it. I loathe the movies!

The series desperately needs a significant reboot so hopefully they decide that that is the right way to go. Furthermore, if the series is going to thrive and succeed, a GOOD network station needs to pick it up. This won't work well on ABC, NBC, CBS, or the like.

I noticed that. One or two I'll definitely follow. Underworld and this I may watch but I'll have to see what they do with them.

There are way too many Movie to TV series being announced/rumored lately and no matter how hard they try this will end up being a rip-off of The Walking Dead.

I want to see them do the RE1 mansion. At least for a season.

In my opinion, a prequel series would be the best way to go. Perhaps have a detective investigate strange murders in the Arklay woods. Throughout the season, as he uncovers more and more, he begins to research the surrounding area and history.

From here you can have flashbacks (through the detectives research) to the 60s where Oswell Spencer and his researchers discover the first T-Virus strain. Maybe have in there a meeting with architect George Trevor about building a 'special property', end the season with the detective approaching a property, revealed to be the Spencer Mansion.

As a first season, it gives the RE fans something to enjoy that they may not have seen previously, while still keeping in continuity with the games. I also feel that a RE series could be done very much like American Horror Story or True Detective where each season is done from a different perspective.

‘Resident Evil’ TV Series In Works At Netflix

EXCLUSIVE: Resident Evil is headed to television. I have learned that Netflix is developing a scripted series based on the hit action horror franchise. I hear the series will be a Netflix global original. German production and distribution company Constantin Film, which is behind the Resident Evil movies loosely based on the Capcom video game series, is the studio. Search is underway for a showrunner to shepherd the adaptation.

No one is commenting but I hear the plan is for the series to expand the Resident Evil universe and deepen the exiting mythology. I hear the series will keep the basic premise, which also served as a setup for the movie franchise. The drama series will explore the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus. While the project is in early stages, the series is expected to incorporate all of Resident Evil’s signature elements, including action sequences and “easter eggs.”

The Resident Evil film franchise, launched with the 2002 Resident Evil, consists of six movies to date, produced by Constantin, which had acquired the rights to the video game series, and distributed by Screen Gems. The franchise has cumulatively earned $1.2 billion worldwide to date to rank as the highest-grossing film series ever based on a video game.

Paul W. S. Anderson was behind the six-movie series, which starred Milla Jovovich and wrapped in 2016 with Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Since then, Constantin Film brass have discussed plans to reboot the franchise, including as a TV series. Last month, the company hired Johannes Roberts to write and direct a potential feature Resident Evil reboot with a new cast.

I wouldn’t mind a tv show. Just worried since most horror stuff by Netflix sucks IMO. Probably will end up being more action.

Wonder if japan is still going to do their movie.

I really want to stay positive in hopes this turns out great.
But most writers/producers don't get it.. they don't get what makes the series so popular and so intriguing. All they see is opportunity to blow shit up.

We'll see... hopefully a miracle happens and it sticks to horror and they get writers that understand and get it. Really want it to start in the mansion. Done right.

I too would love to see a tv show season focused on the mansion from the first game. I just love the atmosphere and horror of that setting.

I actually like all of the Milla Jovovich films but if they do a TV series I would prefer it be closer to the games since we already have the films.

It better be more like the games and not a prequel or continuation of the movies. I like the movies for what they were but this franchise deserves the same eerie storyline and sets that the games had.

‘Resident Evil’ Series Enters Production This June

Quote:
According to Redanian Intelligence, a fan site that worked to uncover information on The Witcher Netflix series, that’s about to change this summer when the Constantin Film-developed series begins production.

Now keep in mind, this hasn’t been confirmed, but with Redanian Intelligence’s work on finding info about The Witcher series before and after its release, there might be something to it. According to a production entry for the RE series, aside from production beginning in June, the show is set to be eight episodes, with each being 60-minutes in length. Prior to the June start date, the series’ on-location prep work will begin in April, with the main hub of production being based in South Africa.

Man, I was so hyped for this, too bad COVID pushed everything back.

When it does eventually begin shooting, I'm sure it'll be worthwhile, but I doubt it'll be worth the extended wait (mind you, I totally understand why it's not ATM, same with all other movies and shows currently in production).
