Default Minimalist Screen Wall Build

All the props go to Jeff Parkinson aka BigmouthinDC (avs forum).

He created the Minimalist Screen Wall using what was described as goal post design.

First you treat the physical wall that will be behind the False Wall with acoustical batting. The cheapest product is Linacoustic HVAC duct liner. One inch layer, followed by 3mm plastic (to create a membrane), then another inch of linacoustic material. You can secure the products using dry wall screws. I also added plaster washers so the screw heads didn't drill through the material.

Two L shaped post are secured between the floor and ceiling. Each post has a small platform that will allow you to secure it to the ceiling and floor.
Another L shaped cross bar connects between the goal posts.

The screen is mounted on the crossbar (typically using french cleats). The final step is making AT panels that are designed to pressure fit btw the screen and the walls, floor and ceiling.

The ultimate purpose is to place the center channel and if possible the LR speakers behind the screen. If the screen is not wide enough, then the LR speakers would go behind the AT panels on the right and left side.

The images show the evolution the the project.

Before:

The framing is complete and speakers in place:

Panels in place and Min. Wall completed.

I'm happy to provide more pics for a closer look at the build process or answer any questions. I am NOT a DIY person, so I may misuse terms or not have an answer to your particular question, but still happy to assist.
