![]() ![]() At 5AM on a Sunday in Brooklyn, 16-year old Craig Gilner bicycles up to the entrance of a mental health clinic: Stressed out from the demands of being a teenager, before his parents and younger sister are even awake, Craig checks himself into Argenon Hospital and is admitted by a psychiatrist. But the youth ward is temporarily closed - so he finds himself stuck in the adult ward. One of the patients, Bobby, soon becomes both Craig's mentor and protege, while Craig is also quickly drawn to another 16-year-old displaced to the adult ward, the sensitive Noelle, who just might make him forget his longtime unrequited crush Nia. With a minimum five days' stay imposed on him by staff psychiatrist Dr. Eden Minerva, it's kind of a funny story... My family and I rented this at a hotel over Christmas because we had all seen the previews for it, but missed it in theaters. We all remembered it had looked really good and it didn't disappoint.
There was some of the typical, funny Zach Galifianakis (which I love by the way) but this was a new role I was seeing him in, and I thought he was great. I do agree with the reviewer though, the movie isn't for everyone, however I loved it! I had been waiting for a release date on this and one day it actually showed up in my Gold Box on Amazon so I preordered it at $25.64. I've been hoping for a price drop but it hasn't come. Even though I loved the movie, I haven't paid more than $20 for a day one release in a LONG time, so at $25+, I'm not sure its worth keeping. I guess I have one more day to make up my mind and hope for a price drop. |
