Default Custom Anime Cover Art Thread

I know we've a general custom art thread, however it's probably better we separate the anime cover art from the rest of the covers so people more familiar with the titles can discuss them without annoying those not interested in anime with them.
Worst case scenario this thread is a bust and it gets buried in the forum, best case this becomes a thing and we all get to see cool custom art and everyone can share their dope skills and knowledge.

Of course I'll kickstart the thread with a few that I've been working on. I mostly use these for storing discs outside of digipacks (I'd rather not risk damaging a VERY expensive package every time I want to pop in an episode of Fate/Zero )

I posted this one previously in the general custom art thread but I think it's appropriate to repost here. I haven't finished it, nor changed it since I last posted but I really quite like what I've got so far on this one. I do need a bit of guidance from someone more experienced than myself on this one.

This one is only spine and front because I haven't even started on the back yet. I only started at all about 2-3 hours ago.

I also did a 14mm case equivalent because I wanted more of the spine, but haven't decided which case I'll use yet.
[Show spoiler]

I use the following two to store discs from JP imports (I also have some Fate/Zero and preemptive UBW ones but they were my first attempt, they are kind of awful and I'd like to keep them hidden unless I decide remake them later. I think I have a decent Madoka films one I did quite a bit before all these which would count as my first but I won't dig that up yet)

I went simple with these ones, similar to the box art used, was a pain to find a decent quality image for the back to use to match each season's motif. I tried three different types of back images and settled for what you see now. I decided it would be too difficult to get a back that I'd be happy with for these so got a bit lazy

As you can tell I don't finish my covers often :P
Of course I'm also happy to share my covers with anyone interested, provided I consider them finished and am happy with them.

Maybe a graphics design wiz can whip up a DVD size cover for Darker Than Black Vol. 1, since it sounds like nobody on this forum wants to display the LP size case

Sure, I'll contribute as much as I can.

I've shown these off before, but here's where I'm at with my Gurren Lagann and Kill La Kill complete collection covers. Since last posting these in the Anime forum, I decided to do Ryuko/Satsuki variants for KLK.

I know I'm not. That thing needs to die. Of course if it turns out to be G1 and not bebop sized then we can talk about that. I don't see it being small though.

@Thomas Guycott - I really REALLY like yours, if only KLK was 6 discs so there was an even split and you could store 3 x 2 and use both designs if you decided to condense.

There were a few elements in the back that I wanted to add/include but it just wasn't working out (you can tell where the gaps I needed to fill were by the little birds )
But I'd like to think this one is complete. I'm open to any suggestion or feedback but for just a bit of fun I'm happy with it. I wanted to use a different image for the front but I just wasn't finding any clean high resolution images.

Does a custom cover for Shiki's SAVE edition exist? If not, wouldn't mind having one. I mean, the official, reversible G2 cover looks decent enough but lack of title on the spine sort of kills it. If I could, I'd try making one myself but am not much of an artist.

I've always been in agreement with manicsounds that the cover art Image used for their Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door Blu-ray was rather poor to say the least, so I tossed the old cover and slid this in.

What size is the case? I started making one then realised it wouldn't be a 14mm because it'd have eight discs. (I'm also having a bit of trouble getting the title in because it's not exactly easy to shop it out of an image because it's a very messy title, the only pre-shopped transparent copy I've found is like 145x88px, I can scale it and select the opaque/non-alpha parts and paint over it which is a huge improvement but it's still fuzzier than I'd like it to be.)

If anyone with photo editing talent thinks they could either do a better job than I did on this, or use a higher res image and help me get the title logo from there I'd really appreciate the help because it kind of bugs me that I can only get a fuzzy image with my limited skills.
[Show spoiler]

Otherwise when I've got a bit more time I've a few other ideas to play around with to try get the logo as close to how I want it.

First and foremost, appreciate the effort. I believe the case being used is a 25mm Viva Elite: http://www.viva-elite.com/25mm_bw.php

Gimme a sec and I'll edit this post with a pic of the case, and I'll try snapping a high res image of the title for you, as well.

Edit: Got the images up. A few for the case -

And the best (which is likely still not good enough) I could come up with for the title:

[Evangelion on Blu-ray hype intensifies]

Not sure if I'm going to put anything on the back or not yet. Might redo the front when an HD source of the image is available but I don't think it looks too fuzzy or compressed when I zoom in 100% even though I scaled it up a bit/lot. Because I decided not to go with the usual image for EoE I'm wondering if I should find another image for Death and Rebirth or not- although the Death and Rebirth art is one of my favourite images- so much so that I own the DVD twice even though I couldn't care less about the feature

Also I'm sorry Vincentric that I'd forgotten about the Shiki cover, it will get finished even if you're no longer interested just because I don't want to leave it incomplete, I'm practically done besides the logo anyway. I just took a break in hopes that someone would come along with a good solution to my issue with the title/logo

Is there a custom cover for Darker Than Black Season 1 as the cardboard sleeves for the release is pretty bad?

So like I totally forgot about this. Sorry about that

So I spent this weekend getting subs working on my Macross DYRL disc, which I've now reauthored and burned to a disc so I can watch it subbed from a disc, a few bugs in the song lyrics that appear when watching on a TV but don't when I play it back on a computer but nothing I care enough to take a long time ironing out manually and using another disc on.
[Show spoiler]

As a result I quickly slapped together a cover to hold the disc in, I originally had something different for the back but my laptop crashed and I didn't feel like replicating it so I went with what you see here.

I used to make slim cd case inserts back when I made a lot of dvds sourced from fansubs. I always liked to keep the design simple and uncluttered-

sorry to bump this pretty old thread, but are there any decent places to get custom anime covers? i'm try to do some space saving because some publishers here are too generous with the number of cases a series has

^ I recently transferred most of my anime DVDs to these cases to save space (a lot). No need for covers then.

i've honestly never really liked those storage cases, i've also heard that over time they can damage blu-rays by slightly warping them too

I ordered a couple different ones to test them out and liked those best. If the cases are stored in their intended orientation (handle/spine up), then the sheets hang down from the top; it's hard to imagine how the discs could become warped then.

I used to replace DVD cases by thinpak cases, for roughly 50% space savings, but eventually still ran out of shelf space (and wanted my living room to stop looking like a video store ^^;). The cases above save me another ~80% of space I would guess. This is just DVDs though, for Blu-rays I now try to not amass such a large backlog.

Anyone got a custom cover for Planetes? I transferred my set to one of those slim 6 disc box the size of a standard DVD case.
