So I recently pre-ordered Beetlejuice in 4K from Amazon.ca well before the release date. When the title was released it immediately went into backorder with nothing available except 2 third parties asking over $75 Cdn for it. Best Buy also didn't receive any nor did Walmart. Days later all Canadian retailers have pulled the listing for not just this title but also Goonies and others that were supposed to out on Tuesday. This is not the first time this has happened.
The only option in Canada is to order it from Amazon.com for $25 US plus $13 US in shipping. So basically $50. This has been happening with a lot of not just 4K releases but also Bluray. None of the Paramount Presents titles are available in Canada for example. I went into my local Best Buy fot the first this week since back in March and the media dept was almost gone. They may have 2 racks in total of mixed Bluray, DVD and 4K. And all the center isle racks are gone. Walmart started doing this earlier this year. On top of this Amazon is stupid pricing because basic titles are imported by third parties. The Gentlemen in 4K is about $60 for instance. Honestly more and more Canadian distributors are clearly given up on offering physical media and it sucks. |
