Default ORCA Italian Blu-Ray

Does anyone know anything about this 2015 Blu Ray release of ORCA:

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Orca-...lu-ray/143795/

I can't seem to find any information on it, and it's a lot cheaper than the Japanese version

I've got the Italian and Spanish editions.

The Spanish version is a BD-r bootleg of the Japanese edition.

The Italian version put out by Pulp is okay, it's a legit release but is slightly inferior to the Japanese disc.

Lossy only audio on the Italian disc too.

Caps comparison here:

Screencaps look exactly the same to me. Is it only inferior due to the lower bitrates on the IT compared to the JP?

See screenshot #8

There isn't much in it, I usually chuck the Italian disc in when I want to watch it.

Thanks

That is pretty weird. All other screen caps look identical to the Japanese release with the exception of #8. Why would Pulp Video selectively use DNR, and then on just a few shots (as it appears they just ported over the Japanese video)?

Even so, $15 is a lot better than $45.

Orca is a guilty pleasure. Am tempted to pick up the Italian release when I have some spare cash.

Received my copy today. Courtesy of an Amazon UK 3rd party seller. Will watch on Sunday evening and am quite excited about it. I do prefer Jaws 2 but Orca easily trounces both Jaws 3D and Jaws The Revenge. But maybe it's unfair to compare Orca to the Jaws franchise? btw Love Morricone's Orca score.

Watched it about 30 years ago on the BBC. Watched it again on my beloved (and much-missed) MGM:HD, and rediscovered it as a lot of fun with a very nice score by Morricone.

It's a cool 1970's movie. It's basically Death Wish with a killer whale playing the Charles Bronson role. The Italian script is a bit silly at times but the film doesn't really suffer from that too badly. As CompleteCount says, the Ennio Morricone score is excellent.

I'll be a little bit upset if the Australian disc looks substantially better. I had assumed that it was the same shared high definition master on all the Orca releases.

Orca is almost a precursor to Jaws The Revenge, where vengeful marine-life goes after those which wronged it.

I've always seen JTR as the slasher movie of the Jaws series, with an ever-dwindling group of characters slaughtered in a quest for vengeance, to the point where you expect the shark to be wielding an axe!

Watched the Italian bd. I would only recommend it to the most ardent Orca fans as the PQ is fairly poor imo. I couldn't award the PQ more than 3/5 at best. There was also a strange encoding snafu where Will Sampson's head suddenly shifts position and weirdly, the Italian subtitles were somehow activated in the last third of the film (luckily I could easily turn them off). A fun film but quite a weak blu-ray - glad that I picked it up at a cheap price.

I am waiting for my Italian Blu-ray to come, I like the film but couldn't justify the price of importing either the Japanese or Australian release. Looking at the caps (except 8) look identical so for the odd DNR scene ill be happy enough!
