Default is the firmware worth doing?

Should I put the firmware update on my sammy? Is it worth doing?

If you like these fixes it is...

Dts "judder" problem fixed
Allows 4:3 pillarboxing (BD material only)
Improved load times
Changes hour glass to "colored dots"
Corrects analog outs, if reversed
Allows playback of BD-R/BD-RE discs
Improved PQ of BD and DVD playback
Parental control problem fixed
Fixes HDMI compatability problems with certain displays
Loses region free abilities

Hell yes, the DTS fix alone was worth it. If you had an earlier build, it should almost be mandatory!

It seems that the only reason not to is the region free aspect.

I might consider getting one of the pre-updated players if it really was / is region free.

The answer is YES, do it improved load time better PQ, and DTS. What is there to think about? Other than the region coding.

Absolutely. You paid all that money to have Blu-Ray, and IMO you're not getting the full experience without the firmware upgrade.
