Besides gifting a movie to myself, is there any way to upgrade a HD movie from the iTunes Store? The digital copy of "The Greatest Showman" only unlocks in HD, despite the fact that it was from a 4K UHD Blu-Ray. I have a $25 gift card, but you can't use GC funds to send a gift. If I could delete the movie from my iTunes account, that might work but all I can do is "hide" the purchase. Is there any way to do this?

If you redeemed from movies anywhere or vudu you can call them and they can delete the movie from your account. And the iTunes version will get deleted as well. Them you can repurchase in 4K

Believe it or not, thec Tunes store. I spent too much tome chatting and emailing with a CS rep at Apple. The short version is that 4K UHD activation of Fox digital copies is not guaranteed. The only way to get a 4K digital version of The Greatest Showman is to purchase a 4K copy outright from the iTunes Store. Unfortunately, now that I already own a copy, albeit HD, there is no way to upgrade without Gifting it to myself.

Maybe someone else can answer more definitively but back when Harry Potter upgraded to UHD I called Movies Anywhere to see if I could talk them into accept the 4K license as MA. The representative seemed to suggest the system it intentionally set up so that titles which upgrade later on do not port at the higher quality, by design. My best guess that that is treats gifts as upgrades.

If I buy the Dark Knight trilogy in 4k and redeem the code, am in the clear to get a 4k upgrade on iTunes, or am I stuck with the HD copies I've been saddled with that were old UV/itunes store purchases?

Also as someone else pointed out previously, in the case of an HD copy porting into iTunes, you can upgrade without gifting by calling Vudu or chatting with MA and having them remove the HD version of the movie from your library. That will take it out of your iTunes library, freeing you up to buy the 4K copy direct from Apple. I've done that a number of times. |

Having Vudu or MA remove the movie from their end eliminates the need to gift completely. If they remove it, purchase the movie normally from iTunes. If you don't want to mess with that, gift it to yourself but lose 4K MA rights. Or buy a code to override the HD version.

If you mean buying the 4k blurays, you should be able to redeem the codes (I got them separately but I don't know if the bundle is just one code) via Vudu to get both UV and MA 4k rights. That gave me 4k in iTunes as well.
