Paramount The Godfather 4K UHD (1972)

Individual release coming on October 11th. There will be a regular 4K release, as well as a Limited Edition Steelbook.

Quote:
Widely regarded as one of the greatest films of all time, this mob drama, based on Mario Puzo's novel of the same name, focuses on the powerful Italian-American crime family of Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando). When the don's youngest son, Michael (Al Pacino), reluctantly joins the Mafia, he becomes involved in the inevitable cycle of violence and betrayal. Although Michael tries to maintain a normal relationship with his wife, Kay (Diane Keaton), he is drawn deeper into the family business.

Will it just be 4K + Digital? What Paramount usually does.

If it weren't for the bonus discs I would go for this. I don't care for foldout packaging. I guess I could Frankenstein the box into this, but then I would think 'Where's III?'. At least with the box called GF Trilogy I still see it as 1-3 with the new cut of III being the real bonus disc.

Still my favourite of the three because of Marlon's performance. I really like the Coppola restorations on Blu-ray but might get the 4K UHDs individually.

Should’ve waited for these to get Part 1 and 2 cause 3 and Coda are awful.

I think if they were, Paramount would probably spread them out, rather than release them all at once, but who knows.

edit: According to this post, they might be:

Yeah I was surprised they were releasing them all at once and seemingly so soon after the box set. I've got the box but man it would be cool if they had the steelbooks with the original poster art

Does this mean they’ll probably release the Indy films individually in regular cases?

I will probably pick these up and keep the collector’s edition closed like the Skywalker saga set so I don’t risk scratching the discs.

That's like having two wives but only using the other one.

They seem to be releasing 4K in different packaging quite quickly compared to DVD and Blu-ray. Box sets, steels then regular. It’s as if they are squeezing everything they can out of every movie very quickly now as if physical ain’t got long left??

I like the Indiana Jones steels, but the reason I didn't get them is because they lack the bonus disc. I'm thinking it'll be the same with this if they're steel rereleases (probably not). Even if the artwork is prolly gonna be amazing, I'm not sure I'll be doubledipping. (I got the italian digipack on the recent sale.) I'm inclined to if it saves me space, but..

I like box set and having all of the movies contained.

It may not be great but in the Godfather box you do get the Theatrical cut of III which really doesn't mean much except it hasn't been seen in a while. None of the cuts improve the film but they are still worth watching just because of the Godfather brand.
,
Filmakers like to tinker and recut but Coppola's Coda was no better than the two previous cuts. No amount of editing or adding was going to help this film.

I don't believe it should have ever been made but that's my opinion and movie studios love getting as many golden eggs out of the goose until they kill it....Indiana Jones 5 anyone?
