So this just came out and couldn’t find a thread. Anyone seen it? Getting mostly rave reviews across the board.
Obviously a small indie film. |

I thought I had heard that catchy title for the film before. Just read it got rave reviews at Sundance over a year ago in 2022, but the director, a woman, couldn’t find anyone to distribute the film because of the controversial subject matter.

I watched this over the weekend. Man, that was fuuuuucked up. Not a bad movie though. Good performances. It's somewhat like a less heightened-version of Red Rocket, but from the female perspective.
It was bought by the same distributor that botched the release of To Leslie. |

Wow. Looks like a great drama, but must be disturbing. |

I was off today so I took the plunge. For about 75 minutes, it was fine but just a straight drama. I kept thinking it must have some big ending, and it sure did.
The final 30 minutes of this is some of the best directing and writing I have seen in some time. I was kind of underwhelmed with the first hour. So much freaking happens in that final 30. Not all of it is world-changing, but some is. I also did not expect it to turn out like it did. I am super excited to see what Jamie Dack does next. She's a major talent, IMO. This is probably one of the rare movies that attempts a drama without any light humor at all, and it works. |

Jamie Dack is a massive talent. She directed a friend's music video years ago (who made a cameo in PALM TREES). McInerny will be on the rise, and Tucker is always underrated as an actor.
It's a shame that it ended up with Momentum after Dack won the Best Director at Sundance for the project (they couldn't even pay the $20K to get TO LESLIE in the Academy Portal for Voters, I believe Riseborough paid it herself), but hopefully she'll end up in a good place with her next film, whatever it may be. |

The movie was really intense and made me anxious a bit. I was confused in an interesting way because I didn't know what was unfolding until it actually happened. The movie also does an excellent job of making the viewer feel what protagonist is feeling and going through. I felt like I was right there with her on her journey.

Any chance of this getting a physical release on Blu-ray? I'd even settle for a DVD if that's all they were willing to do.
