Not to derail the topic but it really has been a terrible year for Nick cartoonists. John Kricfalusi is revealed to be a creep. Butch Hartman is revealed to be a con artist. And now this.

Not only did I watch Spongebob a lot growing up, but Mr. Hillenburg was also an alum of Humboldt State University, my alma mater. So the two of us had an additional connection there (also, according to the article, he taught at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point, another place close to my heart, since I have relatives who live there).

He will be missed.
