Default Paramount Title Delays

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...e_HD_DVDs/1353

Anyone else think this is because they're not staying with HD DVD for long??

It's a tempting thought, but let's face it, delayed release dates are nothing unusual.

Maybe they are getting ready to dump their exclusivity and bring the films out on both formats? Honestly we probably won't know for another month or so.

I know delays are nothing special, but I think in this case that it signals neutrality (if anything is going to change at all). I mean, why bother postponing a title if they already know it's not coming out at all? Just thought it was telling.

so they don't have to make a "leaving hd-dvd" announcement before it was first due.

While it would be great for the format war, it would be in bad taste for Universal and Paramount to totally drop HD Dud at this point especially right after xmas sales. They do have to show proper consumer etiquette and out of respect they will go neutral I suspect for the remainder of the year but will announce this well in advance so as not to continue to confuse customers.

You have to consider the amount of $99 players that were sold. Not all of them will be aware of a format war that even existed and that its soon to be over.

This is exactly what Paramount did with Blu-ray releases before going HD DVD exclusive. They started to "delay" some releases.

The HD DVD'ers never know when to stop.

If I read it correctly, I just saw on another site that the reason for the HD DVD delays is Blu-Ray replication problems/capacity. You see, in their crazy world, it doesn't matter that Paramount is going to start producing Blu again...nope, what matters is that the precious HD DVD version had to be delayed because they cannot make enough Blu's to meet demand due to replication issues (and Paramount wants to release both on the same day). LOL

How f*cking goofy and stupid are these people?

Very true, but other than Zodiac, which came out this week, those were their only other releases until the new March 4th release date, so it's worth mentioning.

Doesn't it remind you of what happened when we starting seeing delays from Paramount?

I really don't understand how HD DVD can live even as a storage on comps. Why buy 30gb disc when you can have 50 or even 100gb disc on blu? And considering that HD DVD burners are virtually nonexistent. Where the hell those analysts get their info or do they even read anything before saying things like that?

Maybe their agreement calls for certain minimum number of releases / month and perhaps pushing two February releases back to March would fulfill that commitment without Paramount having to expend more resourceson the dying format.

This is probably the worst line of that article:

The suggested retail price also holds steady at $39.98 a pop.

And then here's the second worst line, lol :

Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1 Surround tracks
