Default Dawson's Creek

Anyone else love this show? This is one of my favorite series of all time. I never found any of the characters annoying really except for Audry but she wasn't a main character until seasons 5 and 6. Also it was cool watching all the relationships and how they all ended after 6 seasons and the 5 year time jump in the series finale.

Like it at first, but stopped watching after a season or 2. The forced "big word" dialogue became too annoying.

I will admit I liked this show a bit because of Katie Holmes but I never watched it regularly. The only high school drama show I ever really liked is One Tree Hill.

I liked how they used big words and didn't do the typical teenager things. I kinda related because I while I didn't use big words I was more like Dawson and Joey as I didn't party or do any of the stupid things teenagers do.

Teeagers are dumb as hell, there's no doubt about it. I was dumb as hell, did dumb things, but had a great time doing it. My hometown in the Atlanta suburbs was pretty fun, though. Wasn't the type of high school atmosphere you might see in an 80's teen movie. Most of us (2600+ by the time I graduated, 750+ in my class) got along and had fun.

Yeah I have never done anything dumb or stupid. Must be why I always the boring person in my classes but I have fun doing what I like doing so I'm always happy. Kinda like Dawson he had his movies and wanting to be a director that kept him busy and he was having fun.

I don't have the slightest clue how I stumbled across this thread but I had to weigh in. I used to watch this when I was in middle school cause it's what all the girls where watching and if you wanted an in with the broads you had to be familiar with the Creek, so I watched off and on. I was a Joshua Jackson fan going back to my early days with the Mighty Ducks so I mainly watched cause he was cool. Dawson was a major pu**y though, yet I liked Van Der Beek's terrible work in Varsity Blues just cause the chicks where hot and naked and his one liners where epically terrible "I don't want your life" uttered with probably the worst Texan accent EVER. I was in love with Katie when this was on and she was staring in Disturbing Behavior but I don't think I ever saw past the season where Michael Pitt was on. It was just another show I watched to see what it was about, but I really don't have any memories about what happened except that Dawson was in love with Joey and Spielberg, and Pacey was banging his teacher.

As for my personality, I grew up in a small hick town so we where all about drinking, shooting and raising hell. I've done more dumb shit than probably half the people on this forum and while it makes for great and hilarious stories, It also made for some really stupid mistakes, lol. But hell you live, you learn.

I'll freely admit that, like a lot of people in the mid-90s, I got sucked into this show, too...but it definitely got worse as time went on. In the beginning, they dealt with storylines like students sleeping with teachers, a girl with a past reputation for being "easy", that kind of thing...but the core at the heart of it was the relationship between Dawson & Joey. Most of the characters also spoke like they had encyclopedias shoved down their throats, but that (eventually) changed after Kevin Williamson left.

Later on, we got everyone pretty much sleeping with each other, regardless of the consequences, plus gay crap and all sorts of excuses to keep Dawson & Joey apart..and finally, at the end of the series, what do they do? They hooked her up with Pacey, of all people! Argh!!! Sure, Dawson gets to meet his idol Speilberg (offscreen, of course), but the series basically ditched everything it ever stood for in the final episode. I can't speak for anyone else, but that show kept going so many different directions, and I was often so puzzled and turned around that I finally gave up. This show put almost every soap opera ever made to shame.

Joey and Dawson were star crossed, so the final episode fit, imo. I liked a lot of what Dawson was into, mainly the movies, doing the right thing, etc. but holy crap he was a whinny b***.

Never watched this growing up, but the gf got Netflix and we ended up watching this together which was fun.

I thought Joey and Pacy ending up together was good IMO and something I wanted. I was rooting for Joey and Dawson but think Joey and Pacy were really a good couple and were meant for each other.

this is easily my all time favorite tv show. It scared me sometimes how spot on some episodes were from my actual life in high school and later college. This show aired the same time i was in high school and i was constantly looking over my shoulder expecting to find Kevin Williamson walking behind me with a tape recorder saying everything i was doing into it.

Yeah, I liked Dawson's Creek but when it came to dialogue I can't remember a worse show. It sounded like the characters were 40-year old lawyers and bankers, not teenagers. Shows like that need to hire some high school kids to look over the script and make changes so it actually sounds like young people talking and not Harvard-educated adults.

With that said I still loved the show. I was a freshmen when the show started and therefore the same age as the show's characters. I still have this show on DVD but it's been years since I watched it. When I was in college I would sometimes watch reruns on TBS.

That was the point of Dawson's Creek. Kevin knew they didn't sound like normal teens as in their world they weren't. They were the "mature" one's that used big words and watched ton's of movies etc instead of the normal things like football games etc and were just different and them talking like they did was part of the characters and not something they just screwed up while writing.
