Same here...I bought both titles already on blu-ray thinking that they weren't going to get a separate 4K release. As much as I am glad to see that they're getting a 4K release, this is bittersweet considering that I've already bought both titles on release date. With both titles having excellent picture quality, not sure if I would want to shell out another $25+ just for 4K. Had both Get Out and Split been released on 4K when the blu-rays were released, I would have gotten the 4K instead. I'm not liking what Universal is doing...first pushing the Director's Extended Version for The Fate of the Furious on digital only, and now pushing 4K releases separately from initial blu-ray release. If this was a ploy to make consumers double dip for 4K, I'm not sure if these would sell better compared to had they been released on the same date as the blu-ray since there are going to be those who won't double dip at this point.

well same here but i already bought the blu ray on day 1 (i was lucky enough to be in san francisco when it came out) and of course i don't live in america so i can't just go to walmart whenever i feel like and upgrade.. if i wanna upgrade then i'll have to order it on amazon and wait about 2 months (:
yeah that's the perks of living here where everyone just watches everything digitally so they basically stopped selling blu-rays and they're not even trying to sell 4k. life is great. but don't get me wrong, nocturnal animals deserves a 4k release and i'll be very happy for the fans. i just think it's a dick move if they'll release it months later. |

Oh it's definitely a dick move. But the movie itself is amazing, and more importantly for UHD, looks flat-out stunning. And I was lucky enough to get a cheap used copy only a few weeks after the BD came out so I'm not exactly breaking the bank by re-buying it. Obviously would've preferred Universal just release the UHD the first time around, but oh well. (Same goes for Get Out and Split.)

It's good this is getting a release, though I also find it annoying they aren't just releasing it at the same time as the BD. I've already imported Split from the UK on UHD, and was considering the same for Get Out. Now I'll just wait, though, since I'm not in that much of a hurry to see this one.
I hope Universal has learned from these two films, and we won't see staggered release dates in the future. This is one reason why I've basically stopped buying new Hollywood releases on BD. |
