as I said in threads long ago about this being a dry summer for good BD releases, with the exception of Weeds Season 2, these titles suck donkeys big time. Are people really excited about Purple Rain?

The studios have basically thrown July and August down the toilet, with the exception of Universal which is getting a little annoying with all their announcements of HD DVD releases. Where the hell is SONY these days? Doesn't SONY at least have a bunch of great music concert BDs they could release?

Ok, I'll give a little credit to SONY with the 5th Element Remaster which came out this week and is pretty good (never saw the previous version, but this remaster looks and sounds very good, but still not as impressive of a remaster as the Road Warrior, IMO, but I digress).

But yeah, with the exception of 300, this summer is hurtin' man...

I checked Purple Rain but I do not have this title on order yet (less than enthused). I am still on the fence because I am really sick of 80's movies on this next generation state of the art technology. I don't think I will ever be an early adapter again. It’s been a long time since we’ve had quality modern titles such as Casino Royal and the Pirates movies. I feel that the BDA is losing all its momentum this summer. Like many of us I can’t wait for 300 – something relevant to show off this new awesome technology. Come on Fox, get your titles out – we are starving.

I think its stupid that the first BD title is going to be hairspray, dont get me wrong I'm sure its not a bad movie, but theres so many more things I'd rather see going to blu before that.
