Default Previously cut on DVD now uncut on blu-ray

I know some of the Steven Seagal films such as Above the Law were cut on DVD but are uncut in the blu-ray boxset. Are there other films that were cut on DVD but are now uncut on blu-ray?

I'm looking to upgrade as many of my DVDs to BD and want to prioritise which ones to upgrade first.

There are quite a few titles as generally the US masters have been used for the UK discs, however there are a couple of exceptions so it's best to check individual titles before you buy. Melon Farmers is a great site for this kind of info. The BBFC site also lists a lot of resubmissions where previous cuts have been waived. Movie-Censorship.com and dvdcompare.net are also pretty useful.

IIRC there are various Steven Seagal movies which were cut for dvd but have appeared on Bluray uncut without Warner actually getting them reclassified.
Warner have done this with some other action movies too although I can't recall all the titles off the top of my head.
Melonfarmers have listed them previously.

The general move toward making a single Bluray disc for worldwide use with just labelling changes means this has happened on several occasions where previously certain fight scenes might have been edited down a bit but because they would go through uncut now they just don't bother.
The only time in recent memory I can think of where a cut version was accepted was with The Equalizer where the UK version is cut but other European releases are not.
General practice these days it to accept an uncut 18 but Sony stayed with the cut 15 on Bluray.
The Woman In Black also remains cut despite the uncut version classified as 15 long ago

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Lethal Weapon one of the first?

That rings a bell although it wasn't the first film. It was LW3 or LW4 that was substantially cut

Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom.

The scene where that guy gets his heart ripped out was always censored in the UK (including on DVD).

The BD release was the first time it was released uncut in the UK.

And that was just the tip of the iceberg for censor cuts to TOD

Above the Law, Under Siege, and Under Siege 2 have all been released uncut on BD despite not having been passed by the BBFC (even though they would be).

Basically anything that Warner have put out, that was previously cut. Note: This does not include movies altered for other nefarious reasons, I.E: The Devil's Advocate and Executive Decision.

It would be easier to list Blu-rays that are not uncut, because the distributor was too cheap to re-submit it, big example being Face/Off

Face-off is uncut.
The BBFC removed the playing with a knife moment but I thought that was now included in the Bluray.

Edit - my bad. I have an import

Way too many to list, but the first non-horror title to spring to mind was Batman Returns. Even as recently as 2005, Warners were forced to cut a scene in which Catwoman places aerosol cans in a microwave. Thankfully the Blu-ray was fully uncut.

Die Hard With a Vengeance is uncut on Blu Ray. So is the second Ace Ventura film Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls.

Isn't Die Hard 4 cut on BD but uncut on DVD. Or is it versions that are not included i.e Dir Cut or extreme cut etc.

What we got on BD is what was shown in the cinemas worldwide (bar the name change) they just went and created an 'Unrated' cut later which was only available on DVD but it is now available on BD from certain countries.

I think this is a great idea for a thread. I can't think of many other than those that have already been mentioned...

Absolutely anything (12 on DVD, 15 on blu-ray with additional swearing)
Big (PG on DVD, 12 on blu-ray with additional swearing)
Commando (Same cert '15' I think, but with additional Arnie going crazy ape bonkers with rakes, circular saws and a machete)

Although I can think of a couplewhich were cut in the cinema but released uncut on blu-ray.

Horns (15 at cinema, 18 on blu-ray with additional rape and a rather fantastic head explosion)
Braveheart (cut for cinema release, uncut on blu-ray with throat cutting different angle)
