Mera Naam Joker - 4hr Uncut Blu Ray by Shemaroo

Shemaroo has announced the release of a 4 hour special edition Blu Ray of the Raj Kapoor classic Mera Naam Joker. Shemaroo will also be releasing the same on a 2 DVD Special Edition. Initially the film released in the theaters was 4 hours long with 2 intervals, however due to low response it was trimmed to less than 3 hours with a single interval.

Yes It is, but like many of these announcements they are again shying away from a release date.

I am excited about this release for many reasons:

- First Raj Kapoor Film on Blu Ray
- Soundtrack
- No Colourization nonsense
- Aspect ratio will not have been tampered with (Hopefully)

All that aside, I hope they maintain the movie's original audio track.

Also, The OP named the thread 'Mera Naan Joker' - Lol... Can this be fixed?

I once returned 2 heavily scratched Discs. No Problems. They even thanked me for packing them so well. I really packed them ridiculously well >.< Replacements then where added to my next order

Where are all the haters of Shemaroo who call them "SHAME-aroo" now?

Shemaroo is doing to MERA NAAM JOKER what Eros, PEN could not do to SHOLAY even if they combine all their efforts.

Ever since I joined this forum, I have always told everyone. If shemaroo has a water mark, still support them all the way because they are getting borderline (small) films in Full HD in 1080p on BRD (KAHAANI, ISHQIYA, DEDH ISHQIYA).

Do not act like hollywood BRD consumers demanding Hollwood studios who cater to the 7 billion population and sell it as cheap as $3.99.

Bollywood fans needed to have patience and wait until independent niche based bollywood industry catering restoration and authoring company like "shemaroo" to grow up (doing away with watermark). It needed our full support initially.

The usualy question was like....

How come "shemaroo" and "ultra" having watermarks and not learing from YRF and Reliance?

Although its a valid question, its an unfair question.

"YRF" and "Reliance" are huge production and distribution studio houses. For example, "YRF" can make an utter trash like DHOOM 3 & EK THA TIGER with ace superstar and collect 200+ Cr & 250+ crores domestic BO net profit within the 14 day christmas period. "Reliance" have their own state-of-the-art bollywood's best sound stages for in-production shootings and also involved in hollywood production and distribution. These two are pit bulls of motion pictures world.

"Shemaroo" and "ultra" are like little puppies trying to compete with pit bulls. Digital restoration, remastering, archiving, authoring only goes so far. So they wanted their 15 mins of fame and compete with pit bulls in popularity contest. Atleast, T-series and Shemaroo grew up. Ultra will too....in time.

It's only commendable if the result is of good quality which remains to be seen.

I don't accept watermarks unless it's limited to some seconds at the beginning of songs. If they release these films they have to be aware that they cater to a cinephile audience and not Joe Sixpack. Doing so while annoying the same cinephiles with watermarks that have zero effect at reducing pirated copies is simply highly misguided behaviour.

What is the connection here? Because their audience is smaller they should be allowed to care less what their audience likes and does not like? In what way do watermarks help them sell more or at higher prices??

They get my support when they deliver according to international (not just Hollywood) standards which includes many small labels worldwide with much smaller potential audiences than Shemaroo. They are not excused just for being Indian.

Sadly, once again the release date has moved to 'The First Week Of February'. Its actually quite a joke (no pun intended).
