Preorder is up on DDDHouse. Looks like it's limited to 666 sets.

Oh. It's three movies? I was about to say that $85 is really expensive for one movie, even in a deluxe edition. In any event, I'd cough up money for this one. I'm a big fan of the movie, and it's criminal that it's been absent from blu-ray for the longest time.

I agree!

I bought the Asia Extreme Collector's Edition from Tartan Video a while back, since I was tired of waiting.

It comes with a nice DTS-ES 6.1 Discrete track.

Default Awful box set

This has to be the cheapest boxset ever made. It's just arrived this morning and to say i'm under whelmed is an understatement. Firstly the box is huge and
inside the box are the 3 cheap cardboard cases which have the discs inside. The disc come in paper sleeves that slot inside the cardboard cases. If i hadn't ordered this direct I would have said this is a cheap knock off. The book is thin and the bookmarks, well pointless spring to mind. There's no numbering to say which version you have out of the 666. Seriously not worth the cash at all.

Thanks for the info, that's not really encouraging I must say.

I'm really interested in the video quality of the blu-ray's, especially the first movie. Maybe you can take a quick look at the blu-ray (and compare a scene with the DVD)?

Wow. That is really is underwhelming. Those cardboards cases withe paper sleeves...never seen anything like that (thank god). The outer case doesn't look too bad.

I look forward to seeing your thoughts on the quality of the first movie; that's the only thing that could save this box and make me order it.

I'm not a huge fan of the packaging either but at least it's on Blu-ray now. I might consider importing it.

So I've just watched the first one now. I really wouldn't upgrade from DVD. The picture quality is pretty bad. It looks like it's come from an old print. It's been awhile since I saw the DVD but this bluray image is full of dirt, banding and artifacts. The banding is awful in the dark scenes, during the daytime stuff the image isn't too bad but nowhere near the standard of Bluray.

The audio on the other hand is absolutely amazing, bit the audio on the DVD was amazing too.

I'm absolutly gutted. I thought i was getting a new 20th Anniversary remaster, but sadly this isn't the case.

Thank you again for sharing this and warning fellow collectors and it sucks that you paid so much for this release.

I'm really sorry that the box isn't what we all hoped it would be. The Eye is about my favorite asian horror movie, but it looks like we have to wait a little longer for a release that tops the DVD.

Yeah packaging is meaningless to me. I'm a week away from shredding boxes of stupid slipcovers and digital code slicks. The xxxx that makes a title take up more shelf space and clutter a case.

I watched the first movie with my wife. I had not seen this in 20 years or so and thought the quality was excellent for both the video and audio considering how low budget this movie appeared to be. I don't mind the film scratches personally on something like this as I remember watching this from a bootleg DVD we got in NYC Chinatown all those years back that looked like hell.

I adore this movie... and I thought the quality was good. Just set your expectations for something like this as it isn't something that probably has mass appeal, so you may never get it in the type of quality you're hoping for.

If someone were to do it I think it would be Arrow. Since they already released early 2000's J-horror titles like Ring, Ju-on and One Missed Call.
