Default Considering my first 4K TV

Now that I’ve purchased my first UHD discs, I figure it’s time to think about a UHDTV. OLED holds a lot of appeal for its picture quality, and at the moment I’m strongly considering spending my saved-up pennies on that. I’ve done a bit of research and the LG 55” C9 is the set I’m considering the most. (I’m trying to convince my wife that 65” is the way to go; wish me luck on that!)

In addition to the C9, I’m also considering the B9 and the Sony A8G. They’re all roughly in the same ballpark price-wise...the C9 and the A8G are $2200, while the B9 is $1800 (all in Canadian dollars). I would’ve considered also the Sony A9G, but at $3300, it’s more than I want to spend on a 55” set. And the LG CX is also a slight possibility at $2800.

I’d be using the set exclusively for TV & movies (streaming & UHD/BD/DVD), no sports or gaming at all. I’m not worried about the set’s audio cos it’ll be hooked up to my 6.1 speakers.

It would be placed in my living room where it’s only nice & dark after sunset. It can get fairly bright during the day.

It’s just my wife and me but wide viewing angles would be great as we do host movie nights with our friends, and the living room gets fairly packed.

With Father’s Day coming up, I figured some sweet sales may be coming up. I’m fine waiting for Back to School or even Black Friday, but after reading 4KUltraBD’s “super stoked” posts, I’ve got this 4K thing in my head and can’t stop thinking about it!

Bearing all this in mind, is an OLED still a decent idea? And if so, do you recommend any of the above-mentioned sets in particular? Any others I should strongly consider?

EDIT: Buying refurbs or open box OLEDs is a bad idea, right? And definitely no demo models?

EDIT2: Currently using a 2013 Sony 55" W900A LED. An upgrade isn't needed, but oh man, do I want it.
