The Spirit of Halloween Returning in 'Trick 'r Treat' Sequel?

Dated well before April Fool's, the official Twitter page for Michael Dougherty's popular horror anthology Trick 'r Treat was updated with this simple tease:

"Sam WILL return..."

For those of you unfamiliar, Sam was the metaphorical "Spirit of Halloween" who was part of the anthology's wrap-around, and also had a run-in with holiday Grinch, Mr. Kreeg (played by Brian Cox).

Warner Bros. treated the film like a "bad seed" crippling its theatrical run. But the film instantly gained cult status on home video. If a sequel were to make it into production, we can only assume it will be a direct-to-disc release.

Was posted well before April Fools like the article states so most likely not a joke for those wondering. Really hope it's true though as I would love another.

Trick 'R Treat has become an annual Halloween-viewing tradition for myself. I hope any sequels will live up to the quality of the first one.

I LOVED the first movie and feel the anthology format could do well for a sequel. I hope this happens.

Really hope we get a second one soon or something as these videos are indicating something may be coming this Halloween. Not sure what a marathon could be though as I don't think they are going to show Trick R Treat all day or something like that.

Yeah Sam the Spirit of Halloween has become one of my favorite Halloween characters/creatures since I first saw him. Would be cool if a sequel gave us more info on him like a background or just feature him more. Loved his

Same here! I watch it every Halloween. Such a good movie.

They are doing a special screening this coming Monday with a Q&A that will be aired live. THe movie is also streaming live. There is a speculation that a sequel could be announced for a 2014 release.

Would be awesome if a sequel was finally announced. We need more of Sam.

It's long overdue. This is the kind of horror series that should be an annual tradition instead of something like Saw.
