The Fan anyone? - Blu-ray Forum

So, back in '96 there was this little movie called The Fan that wasn't THAT huge but it had Robert De Niro and Wesley Snipes in it. It kind of got pushed into the shaddows of The Rock and all the other huge movies that came out that year. It has one of the best scores/soundtracks ever in a movie. And it's from one of my all time favorite director's, Tony Scott (Man on Fire). So am I the only one that wants to see it on Blu-Ray? The DVD was horribly compressed and I think it could really bennifit from a Blu-Ray transfer.

Yeah, I would get this on BD. I caught some of it the other night on cable.

I saw this in the theater back then, it was an ok movie. Alot of night scenes so I expect it to be a bit darker. I've seen it a few times on cable since then.

There's a couple of scenes, that demonstrate the worst compression of a color ever... Tony Scott makes this steam room scene go red during a fight, and holy crap... block city, nothing but blocks every where.

But I think this movie would actually have pretty decent sound. The score hits some deep bass and also is mixed so that discrete sound effects end up in the rears.

Love this movie. Was thinking about it the other night and was wondering why the heck it's not on Blu.

Taken from the novel by Peter Abrahams. I saw this Friday November 1st 1996 at the old Odeon cinema in Edinburgh, screen 1, seat G39.

I really like it, and it's had a terrible release history on home video in most regions. It was produced by Mandalay Pictures and only released by TriStar at the time.

Hans Zimmer's awesome, gloomy score has also never had a decent release. For a $55 million film it's strange how this seems to have completely fallen through the cracks.

Oh, my God, yes! That is one of my favorite Hans Zimmer scores. I love the stuff he did back in the 90s and I can't find it anywhere!

As for the movie, I like it, but it's a bit too depressing for my taste, although I am a bit of a Tony Scott completist.

Last I heard Mill Creek had it in its slate, but there was no date. That was a few years ago.
