Question Which studio who will make history? Very bad bistory!

Which movie studio will be forever known as "The Last to Go Blu"?

Will Universal go Blu Before Paramount or Vise-versa?

Which ever studio is left holding the smelly bag of crap known as HD-DVD, will be the laughing stock of the electronics industry FOREVER! A permanent, bad reputation that they will never be able to shake. Wikipedia, Ask.com and every other web site in the Universe will display either Paramount or Universal as the very last to switch. Who will the lucky winner of the "enormous Bad Press prize" be? Who will forever be known as a "LOSER!"?

Think about it... let's say Paramount went blu today. From that moment on, all we would be hearing about is the lack of vision Universal Studios has. As the days pass, it would only get worse for the last HD-DVD supporter. I can't wait to see who the Unlucky one will be.

Please Vote:

Which studio will forever be known as "The Last To Switch"?

(a) Paramount/Dreamworks

or

(b) Universal Studios

Universal because Paramount was once Blu, it will be an easier transition for them.

Dreamworks, they don't have the alleged "out" clause in their contract...

Universal, unless Ken Grafeo throws himself off a building.

Paramount would have had the foresight to have thought about Blu-ray winning and including an escape clause.

they did not cancel anything, they simply did not announce anything, the same for paramount.

what we do know is that both are in contracts with hd dvd, paramount through march 09, universal through jan 08.

an out clause has been activated in the paramount contract because of WB meaning that they can do anything they want now (expect an announcement by week's end according to many insiders).

an out clause has not been activiated in universal's contract meaning they have to wait til feb. 1st to go officially blu-ray.

its pretty much been confirmed both will be supporting blu-ray very soon.

Universal will be last cause they have to wait till February to drop HD DVD exclusivity. Paramount could potentially announce a change in format as early as tomorrow, thanks to the escape clause they are supposedly activated to get out of their contract with Toshiba.

i don't mean to sound arrogant to anybody else with any other thoughts, but there really is no question about who will be the last to switch. the insiders have basically confirmed everything and they have been right on everything, it will be universal.

You're saying Universal will be last? I don't know about that. I think Universal is trying to beat Paramount.

I assume Paramount will be dropping HD DVD totally. Is Universal only rumored to be going neutral? I'm not sure why they would be releasing on HD DVD after every other studio has left the format.

Warner reportedly has a contract until the end of May, but announced early. So, Universal could probably announce early too, in which case, if they beat Paramount to announcing then you couldn't say that they were last, unless you want to apply the rule that it is when their contract ends and in that case, Warner might end up being last.

As I told a friend earlier today, if Universal switches now Craig Kornblau could say that he helped bring player prices down and actually moved things along by not going neutral or switching earlier. However, if he waits and keeps Universal fighting on the HD DVD side then he will likely lose his window of opportunity and will probably go down as a guy who made dumb decisions for his company just to try to spite the other side.
