Default Fade to Black (2006)

Has anyone seen this? Any good? I'm always a sucker for movies that use real life people and places and then insert a fictional story with it. In this case Orson Welles during the filming of the movie Black Magic.

What other movies can anyone recommend like this?

"Shadow of the Vampire" did this brilliantly.

It recounts the making of the 1922 German film, "Nosferatu". In it, the German director, FW Murnau, in his quest for realism, enlists a real life vampire, the reclusive Max Shrek, to star in his film. The promise is that, after filming, the vampire will be given the leading lady. But Murnau has some tricks up his sleeve.

The film not only portrays the filming of the 1922 "Nosferatu", but also makes the relationship between the reckless director and his difficult star also mirror that of Werner Herzog and Klaus Kinski, during the making of the 1979 remake of "Nosferatu".

"Shadow of the Vampire", starred John Malkovich in frothing at the mouth mode as Murnau; the GREAT Willem Dafoe (in a Golden Globe and Oscar Nominated performance) as the moody vampire; and even always interesting character actors such as Udo Kier also show up. Nicolas Cage was one of the producers.

It was directed by E. Elias Merhige, who made the disturbing short film, "Begotten".
