MSRP is $40. I'm sure it'll eventually drop down to around $25 on Amazon

Well, I knew nothing about this, but not owning a copy of Akira I figured it's about time. Ordered through Funimation and having it shipped for $35. Thanks for the heads up as I hadn't heard about this one anywhere else.

Same here. I wish they had gone for the Kaneda and Neo-Tokyo skyline poster art instead. Though judging from one of the pics, it looks like Kaneda and his bike may be embossed....though that might have to do with the poor image quality on Funimations website.

Too bad its not gonna be that 4K remaster that was recently done. Didn't the Funimation release also muck with the bitrate of the Japanese TrueHD track?

That's a pretty nice steelbook setup with the book and extra disc might grab it if the price is right or wait for it to come down over time.

I have the same, wish I could figure out a way to convert it and store the blu rays... but the new Steel looks pretty sweet

Probably, they either added a digital copy and a or a DVD again.
I'm guessing it is just the 25th Anniversary version repackaged.
