Default Janet Jackson Appreciation Thread

Miss Jackson if you're nasty! Thought I'd start this thread seeing as how she just started her Unbreakable World Tour and is releasing a new album soon. Been listening to Janet since before I could walk, at least that's what my sister told me. lol

I was always a bigger fan of Michael's music than hers, but I liked a few songs from her earlier albums. One of my faves is probably "Escapade".

Which is just plain sad, when you really think about it.

That's the biggest at the moment. But Miley Cyrus breast was shown while she was changing at the VMA's, Lil' LeBron James was seen when he was messing with his shorts. I'm sure there's been more over the years that I've forgotten.

I was also always a bigger Michael Jackson fan, but Janet's late-80s/early-90s hits were big favorites at the time as well. I had her Control and Rhythm Nation albums on cassette. Haven't heard any of her new stuff for a long time, but have actually been meaning to go back and check it out.

Always liked her infamous Rolling Stones cover in 1993, too.

Well, I thankfully missed both of those, since I don't watch MTV or "reality" crap.

Her newest single is "No Sleeep" which goes back to her Velvet Rope sound a bit.

If I had to guess, I'd say I've heard less than 1% of her music in total. I'm only familiar with a couple of songs from the "Rhythm Nation" and "Control" albums, but that's it.

I've listened to everything since Control. I've never really bothered listening to anything that came before that since it wasn't really what she wanted to do. And I've learned from a handful of artists that their music is better when they're in control. If you want to revisit her music without having to listen to every album, she has a Greatest Hits album out called "Number Ones":
