(Jean Rollin, 1972)
Release date: 9 December 2024
Limited Edition 4K UHD (World premiere)

Jean Rollin continues his unique exploration of the vampire genre with Requiem for a Vampire (Requiem pour un vampire), featuring a cast of Rollin regulars including Marie-Pierre Castel (The Shiver of the Vampires), Mireille Dargent (Lips of Blood), and Louise Dhour (The Escapees).

When Marie (Castel) and Michelle (Dargent), two enigmatic women travelling through the countryside in clown costumes, stumble across a mysterious château, they uncover a sadistic vampire sect, the leader of which offers them eternal life to continue his bloodline.

Also released as Virgins and Vampires and Caged Vampires, Rollin's pulp-inspired fourth feature boasts an abundance of surreal and erotic imagery, and is accompanied by an eccentric free-rock score by composer Pierre Raph (The Iron Rose, The Demoniacs).

This is one of Rollin’s best. The Escapees is…not.

Love Requiem for a Vampire. I'll definitely be upgrading.

I've never seen the Escapees but I'll probably end up buying it considering Indicator's prices are generally reasonable.

Plenty of speculation on that in the Indicator threads. I made this color-coded list. Most of these should be accurate. There's probably around 2-3 that are questionable. Countess X, if planned, could be a US only title due to BBFC restrictions. I would guess The Iron Rose will be the next announced since they teased that one already. Not sure what it'll be paired with.

Glad to hear about Requiem for a Vampire. Looking forward to (hopefully) The Living Dead Girl and The Iron Rose.

Fantastic development. Love me some Requiem. I figured it was next in line. This was actually one of the better looking Redemption blu rays. The underlying elements appear to be in excellent condition, so Indicator's upcoming 4k uhd based on a new scan of the OCN should be an absolute banger of a disc. It's going to be a pretty hard wait until December 10. Easily my new "most anticipated" uhd right now...

It's a strange world when I can't wait to slobber over a best-efforts, drool-worthy uhd of Requiem, but could barely care less about the upcoming "CameronAized" 4k release of Terminator.

The Escapees is not a personal favorite, but I'll also be picking up that 4k release to support Indicator in this incredible, massive ongoing catalog effort. I couldn't be happier.

I'd wager that Living Dead Girl might be among the next releases to come. Much like Requiem, it was a solid-looking Redemption blu. Indicator is all about putting out the very best looking titles, and only when the transfer and mastering are chef's kiss. They've already set an impossibly high bar with these Rollin uhds, and are determined to maintain that. Living Dead Girl will likely prove to be far less challenging to get in peak order than some of the other remaining Rollin catalog titles, especially considering whatever "best elements" I assume Indicator is going to be dealing with for the likes of Iron Rose and Grapes of Death. Both of those titles have fairly weak looking blu rays that are clearly based on transfers not taken from the OCN. I'm positively dying to know what the best remaining elements actually are for Iron Rose and Grapes, and what materials the rights-holders may be willing to give Indicator access to at this point.

Have I gone mad or has Iron Rose been worked on already and is next in line to be released? Thought someone said they had seen a post by indicator that it’s the next one out the blocks after Decembers batch

Indicator used a teaser image from it a month or two back in their newsletter. It was probably to build anticipation for the next Rollin releases and not The Iron Rose specifically.

Yup. That was me here:

Assuming Indicator continue to release Rollin in pairs and prioritise what's revealed so far, the next batch should include Rose de fer (previous newsletter-possibly paired with Les amours jaunes, see post below) bundled with Requiem pour un vampire (Bluesky post).

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...ostcount=32731

Following that, your guess is good as mine.. I would expect them to keep some of the heavy hitters for last to keep everyone interested and am somewhat surprised they are not doing that. On the other hand, more popular titles might require less work and might naturally end up getting prioritised simply because of this. However:

I couldn't agree with this remark in the US thread more, so we still have enough exceptional films to anticipate.

It has also been mentioned that releasing the Sony titles might take precedence, so I wouldn't be surprised if 2024 ends with a single Rollin batch, even though Rose de fer has already been hinted at in a previous newsletter.
Probably complications with the Rose de fer release might have caused Indicator to reconsider their schedule, or they might have decided to keep the best for last after all .

Much as I anticipate Rose de fer, still very happy we will be getting The escapees this time round instead, even though I would appreciate some new-to-HD Rollin title, which might help clarify if Indicator are venturing outside the ParkCircus Rollin catalogue (which I'm afraid they won't be).

What an incredible Thanksgiving gift. My copy of Requiem 4k just shipped last night from Orbitdvd and is on the way. Now we're talking Turkey! One of my most anticipated Rollin titles, even if just on the basis of my expectation that it should be a pretty stellar release. Frankly, if it looks anywhere near as good as their Lips of Blood uhd, I'll be doing backflips. The great thing is...now I'll know very shortly. And it's very early to street, too! Sweet! Indicator, what have we done to deserve you?!

If you've seen Requiem before, you might just have felt even dirtier if you'd actually scored the pre-order It's not exactly one of Rollin's more subtle

Oh, I'm a fan of his films.

Orbit got these in stock so I was able to place an order. Not shipping yet as I tacked on some other pre-orders that aren't due for a couple weeks.

I can't wait for Grapes of Death since there was an odd one or two frame glitch that I didn't like on the Kino/Redemption BD, and I can't wait for the titles that were not released on BD.

Definitely. I'm still positively dying to get my hands on Grapes of Death, Iron Rose and Living Dead Girl, myself. These are among the most popular of his remaining titles likely to be released, and I'm assuming that they'll spread them out, pairing each of them with other lesser-known titles from his remaining catalog.

Living Dead Girl is going to be gorgeous in uhd, and its negative looks to be in fantastic shape. The Redemption blu was one of the nicest looking of their Rollin 1080p releases. I still think it might be next in line, as it would be one of the easiest to get in order. I don't mind being wrong, though. Any Rollin title that comes out next is an instant buy.

Grapes and Iron Rose, on the contrary, had pretty rubbish underlying transfers for their respective Redemption blu rays. I can't wait to hear what the best remaining elements are for each of these two films, and see what sort of magic Indicator can work on them.....In truth, I'm a bit worried that Indicator might possibly back off on their plans for a uhd on either of those titles if it can't find satisfactory elements that will produce a 4k release to their very high standards. It's a scary thought. The reality is, though, anything Indicator does release will easily blow away the old Redemption blu rays. Fingers crossed.

I liked all of the Redemption BDs video wise. They looked a bit rough but had a grindhouse aesthetic to them which I appreciated.

Since the numbers don't work, I'd appreciate a two-fer of the Michael Gentil softie pairing (FMTFW and SGHH).... Then I wouldn't need the LCQF.

Hell, if Countess X ends up being a release, pair that one with Phantasmes.

I believe I read that Rollin only mentioned liking FMTWF, SGHH, and Phantasmes/Seduction of Amy - meaning he wasn't a fan of Countess X.

But I feel like the Park Circus list is probably what will be released, which includes every title MifuneFan has in red except for the last one, which is NOT on the Park Circus page.
