Whenever I see Big Bang Theory on TV it always reminds me of Golden Girls for some reason.

I wonder if this would include the single season of "The Golden Palace" (I recall that it aired on CBS, so perhaps the rights/ownership are different for it?). I don't think I've seen it (and only watched a few episodes) since it originally aired. Might get a kick out of revisiting it, including seeing Don Cheadle early on in his career.

When I first saw the thread title, I thought it was a reboot of the old show, and I must say i was very interested to see who they cast.

One of the great TV theme songs.

No matter how old you are these 4 ladies are comic genius in their prime. I can still watch episodes on Nick at Night and laugh my proverbial ass off with every single episode.

So happy to see this news another win for D+

Given the way he said he was "working hard" for "every episode ever" kind of gives me hope for both.

The Hulu thing was just plain stupid and reactionary. It's one of the most memorable and important episodes of the show. And removing it was completely ironic given the actual message of the episode which is all about inclusion. It also was selective...I remain shocked that they pulled that episode but no one complained about the episode of Designing Women (which is still up, last time I checked) where Suzanne actually does blackface for real (dressing up as Diana Ross).

As to Golden Palace, multiple times during the long GG run on Lifetime they ran it as part of the syndication package. Apparently, Disney/ABC already has the rights to it through Buena Vista, so I think it is rather likely that it does appear. It's not as great as Golden Girls, but it is certainly worth watching so I hope it indeed does come to Disney+.

I hope they have the unaired Peter North episode!

I was listening to the gilbert Gottfried podcast a coupla years ago and they had this guy on who wrote a book about the GGs, and I was suprised to hear that Maud would get really upset, and sometimes reduced to tears, at the writers for all the jokes they wrote about her being mannish.

It was Blanche that slept around in nearly every episode, but none of the guys she slept with died. The one time Rose gets some... the guy croaks from it.

Nobody I've described that scene to has been offended by it. There was also a Cosby Show reference by Dorothy in that same scene, although considering this was the same studio where Bill played the Devil…

Hope not. Who cares? Its just TV show. Show them all, 100% uncut or dont bother at all. This is the issue I have with streaming services. I appreciate that D+ is picking this great show up & I will be watching it. But I also worry that the content police are going to sift through it to make sure it doesnt "upset" anyone. Stupid.

Wait until someone picks up All in the Family.

Well that's cool! I know Golden Palace has aired on some channels in the past, but I don't think it's been available for a long time and it's never had a DVD release. Even though it's not as good as Golden Girls, I'll definitely give it another re-watch!

Nice! I ended up procuring the series a few years ago but the entire season was squeezed on 2 DVDs, so you can imagine the quality. It will be great to see them in a better quality...

It's weird. I loved The Golden Girls as a kid and remember when it ended, yet somehow I never knew about The Golden Palace until I stumbled across a rerun in the mid-2000s or so. I was trying to figure out why all the ladies except for Dorothy were running a hotel. Would like to see the whole season sometime since it'd all be new to me.
