Hmm. I love all eight of them quite a bit. Some slightly more than others. I picked Empire though, since it probably is the best of the bunch.

I'll be the Phantom Menace guy. IV and V are easily the best movies in the series, but when it comes to entertainment value, it usually ends up being a toss-up between I and IV for me. I'll give I the edge today

The Empire Strikes Back is definitely my favorite but I love the OT almost equally.

My official rankings:
1. The Empire Strikes Back
2. Star Wars
3. Return of the Jedi
4. Rogue One
5. The Phantom Menace
6. The Force Awakens
7. Attack of the Clones
8. Revenge of the Sith

Return Of The Jedi for me. I love everything about the film and, The Force Awakens be damned, this was the best way to end the saga. And the ending was just enhanced so much more when the prequels came along. Speaking of, Revenge Of The Sith almost ties with ROTJ as my favourite but, ultimately, the happy ending of Jedi wins over the unremitting darkness of that movie.

The Empire Strikes Back, by miles. The most visually imaginative, striking and beautiful of the franchise. A story that goes dark and makes you feel there's something at stake in all this, mainly because the characters feel like real human beings, more so than in Star Wars or Jedi, capable of emotion and even suffering. The characters in the prequels are stiffer than plywood.

I do not view any answers other than A New Hope or Empire Strikes Back as legitimate.

No way is Phantom Menace better than catching your dad boning your mom from behind in the family RV.

And I should know.

...my parents were very open about their sex life.

Revenge of the Sith. I cry almost everytime I watch it. I think it's a very powerful film that presses all the right buttons with me. Empire would be a close second.

This is really tough for me. If we are talking about the original versions of the original trilogy, then they rank higher than Force Awakens and Rogue One. The changes really ruined those movies for me due to the bad and overdone cgi. That horrible Jedi Rock's number in the edited version of Return of the Jedi just makes me want to vomit. I think we can all agree that the prequels are the worst though. I would like the Phantom Menace more, but Jar Jar and the kid playing Anakin really annoy me.

I love how TPM has votes, but AotC still has 0 Very glad to see people coming around to the true weakest movie of the saga!

As for my vote - Empire all the way

I didn't like the initial movie that started it off, but that series got really good after the 1st season.
