Default No HDMI question

I just purchased the Panny 30 and the Onyko 605. I have a cable box that has HDMI. I have a Kuro on order. In the meantime, I am attempting to configure my system.

My HDTV has no HDMI input. I am using component from the receiver.

Here is the question.

I am trying to connect the Cable box and the Panny via HDMI to the receiver. No luck, no picture/no sound. Do I have to complete the "circuit" with the HDMI tv? Is using the component out to the TV somehow not allowing me to connect the cablebox and Panny using HDMI?

On the receiver I have (I believe) made the changes needed on setup so the receiver knows that I am connected for HDMI. The component setup works fine.

You are correct. Do you still have your 605 manual? Check page 24, 25, the 605 does not support the signal flow of HDMI-in-> Component-out. If you want to use the HDMI-inputs, you need to use the HDMI outputs.
Until you get your HDMI tv, you will need to use inputs other than HDMI.
