Default Bones & All (TBA) Antonio Campos Movie

Director Antonio Campos & 'Suspiria' Screenwriter Team For New Coming-Of-Age Horror Film 'Bones & All'

Quote:
One of the more polarizing films from 2018 is the Luca Guadagnino-directed “Suspiria” remake. While many (including this writer and quite a few at The Playlist) believe the remake is one of the best films of the year, there is a large contingent of folks that were not only disappointed in the film, but also felt it was a terrible re-imagining of Dario Argento’s classic giallo film. But alas, that isn’t stopping the film’s writer David Kajganich from landing yet another high-profile horror film.

Deadline is reporting that Kajganich has been brought aboard to adapt author Camille DeAngelis’ novel “Bones & All” for the big screen. Making the situation even more interesting is that director Antonio Campos is involved in the project as the helmer.

For those not familiar with DeAngelis’ horror novel, “Bones & All” tells the coming-of-age story of a 16-year-old girl that goes on a cross-country journey to the darkest parts of America to find her father, and, hopefully, answers about why she feels the urge to murder and has done it numerous times in the past.

“We’ve all become used to the status quo of jump-scare horror, but this is a story with something so disquieting, tense, and human at its center, it will give us the chance to engage the genre aggressively from the side of character,” said Kajganich. “Camille’s book is a knockout, unlike anything we’ve read, and making this adaptation with Theresa and Antonio–two friends whose integrity and daring I love so much–means we will really be swinging for the fences.”

Kajganich is far from a new face in Hollywood. Before his script for “Suspiria,” he collaborated with Guadagnino on the film “A Bigger Splash.” He’s also the writer behind the TV series “The Terror,” as well as the films “The Invasion” and “True Story.”

Campos, of course, is the acclaimed filmmaker best known for his work on the recent drama “Christine.” He also helmed episodes of the TV series “The Sinner,” and is currently working on the highly-anticipated Netflix film “The Devil All the Time,” which has an incredible cast that includes Tom Holland, Sebastian Stan, Riley Keough, Jason Clarke, Bill Skarsgård, and Robert Pattinson.
