Default Toho (Movie Studios) Expanding Into U.S. (Legendary's Rights Expire?)

Well, this was inevitable. When Japanese manga publishers started expanding into the U.S. markets with Viz Media and Kodansha Comics, Japanese movie studios were likely to do the same. Variety has announced the news that Toho will be expanding into the United States with a movie studio. While the article linked below doesn't go too far into discussing if it will mean the end to Legendary's licenses for Godzilla, it does beg the question, who is better equipped to handle the Godzilla film rights in the United States.

The points I list below would be awesome if they follow through with this AND I've linked to the article below.
  • Toho could decide not to renew the current licenses for the Godzilla movie rights under the various licensees and distribute their entire Godzilla franchise on Blu-ray with the original masters, complete with Japanese/English dual audio along with English subtitles
  • Toho could decide not to renew Legendary's license for Godzilla and continue the new Godzilla franchise under their U.S. movie studio

This definitely would/will be awesome news.
