when do you think the ps3 will get the upgrade? im thinking before the 22nd since saw4 is gonna have it. im happy about this profile more than p.i.p just because its hands on, for example i was in a audio store last week and they were showing a preview of x-men the last stand with bd live( is this new for x-men? did'nt the movie come already?) they had the usual games and iterativity and stuff, but the best part to me was when they were live streaming everything like an interview with one of the cast from the red carpet live. when i saw that i was sold, BD live is one feature ill be using every day once its released.

I'd imagine that it'll be similar to DTS HD-MA in that it's probably done but sitting on a proverbial shelf waiting for a politically opportune time for its release.

adds web enabled conectivity, small amount of memory to player so you can download trailers, extra features etc.

Extended features basicly. The PS3 checks the boxes already so it should just be a firmware update, where as standalone players will need more hardware.

currently we have basic players, then Bonus view players (adds PiP), and then BDLive and not to forget optional BD Magic players.
