I've always been keenly interested in movies sound effects and music right from a young age.
Always had an ear for certain soundtracks (effects/music) especially geared for science fiction. for eg "Star Trek" "Enemy Mine" "Star Wars" etc But one movie that really sold the deal for me in terms of Cinema Quality Sound Effects was visiting Michael Bay's "The Rock" at the local 4 plex back in 96'. It wasn't till my mate said "I just love the bass in the explosions" that i sat back and tuned my ears in.. Holy Heck. Made for an exhilarating experience when the F-16? launched its missile into Alcatraz, with the subsequent over head shot. The unfortunate side effect was i became so entrenched in finding Cinema's with awesome sound systems that i was sorely disappointed if the sound was lacking and invariably i rated the experience accordingly..(where as prior to this i was always a happy camper ![]() So what was the movie that sealed the deal for you?.. cheers |

Same here. Right when SPR came out back in May. I just added 2 more speakers to move up to 7.1, and the first part of this movie helps me test out my speakers. Sooo... bass heavy!
I also use Terminator Salvation, War or the Worlds! Did you get that one yet? ![]() ![]() |

I was always impressed by the sound effects of Jurassic Park when I was a kid. The thing is, I had only seen it on VHS at home. The first time a movie blew me away in the theater was The Green Mile. It was one of the rare nights when the volume of the theater I used to go to wasn't ridiculously low, and it was simply magnificent. The potency and the level of detail in that movie's sound design are incredible.

- The sounds of the gunshots in Leone's spaghetti westerns always caught my ear. They just sounded so different and wild compared with the classic western fare I was used to watching on TV. Same goes for the sound of the smart-guns in Aliens.
- The sound of Robocop's feet as he's walking behind the frosted glass in the precinct. Sells you the character and the costume effect before you've even seen it. And the whole picture. essentially, from there on in. -Tie-Fighters and the different effects and qualities of the radio chatter between the rebel pilots in the death start assault in Star Wars Last edited by Martoto; 05-28-2019 at 11:45 AM. |
