You brits always get delays for some reason. It used to be really bad in australia to the point that my parents saw titanic a year after it's release

Has this even had its UK theatrical release yet ?
There are always delays with independent films which means this has ended up with Dogwoof who specialise in documentary releases.
Have they shown some common sense though to actually release in IMAX this month in May to tie to the anniversary and then enforce a 6 month hold out for the disk, or will it only appear here later in year.

I guess one small positive is a 6 months wait means we should know if Universal plan to double dip in US and release a UHD or a Special Edition BD with some decent extras including extra footage.

Edit : Looking at their website it seems it’s getting a limited theatrical release on June 28th, screening venues not yet listed.

Got the US copy yesterday. Only downside its Region A locked so i could'nt play it on my 4k Player to upscale it. Still looks super in 1080p though.

Kind of pleased it hasn't been released theatrically here yet. I was reading the comments about the US BD and made me really want to watch it in cinema. Thought I had missed out!

Screening venues for U.K. now up for ticket booking.
https://www.apollo11movie.co.uk/tick...mpaign=dogwoof

Seems there are 35 cities/towns around U.K., good spread of locations plus Dublin. However some like London have multiple cinemas. In their case choice of 12.

Closest to me is Brighton, which is 26th June so seems not all dates are the 28th claimed on the Dogwoof website.

Caught this the other day & absolutely adored it. Is there any logical reasoning behind the five month wait between the (incredibly limited) UK theatrical run & the blu-ray release?

It seems insane not to capitalise on the actual anniversary of the moon landing & give it a swift home release like They Shall Not Grow Old had.

Looks like it might get a 4K Blu-Ray release, which would be its first/only physical UHD release in the world.

I don't know what that response is supposed to signify, t would be eminently surprising if Dogwoof, a company that tends to use BD-25s, doesn't always use lossless audio, still sometimes delivers improper 1080/50i encodes and don't even have subtitles on every release actually ended up releasing their own UHD Blu-ray disc. Then again, they have released four Blu-rays already from January to June this year, so maybe the company has come into some money.

Still, I should think that if it happens, it will be a disc authored by a US or German label and then packed in with Dogwoof's own Blu-ray.

I certainly wouldn't take it as confirmation, but I read it as a suggestion that they've got plans to. Though it may well be that you're right in that it would be a collaborative release; that would also make sense as to why they couldn't announce it themselves right now.

I suppose they could employ an expert to sort it out (such as David Mackenzie). I saw a tweet recently - can't remember where - that implied Dogwoof have done especially well recently with big titles such as Apollo 11, Free Solo and Three Identical Strangers so they probably can afford to go big with this one. I'm only interested in the Blu-ray myself though, with no plans to go 4K anytime soon.

Free Solo was their first title to make over £1m at the box office, and Apollo 11 is the second - and has overtaken that as their highest earner. They might see this as more of a *ahem* rock solid bet on home video, particularly with the Apollo anniversary and the Christmas market. Just thinking out loud.
