I've never seen The Outing, but I saw The Godsend a couple of times on Elvira's Movie Macabre when I was a kid in the early 1980s, and I'd love to see it again. That was such a mean little girl, and she reminded me at the time of this one girl at my elementary school who used to push people off of swing sets.
I'm not sure how The Godsend will hold up these days, but I might be in for this disc if the price is right. |

I'd say it's pretty obvious that those "tons of people" were clearly a vocal minority. Today's releases are about as far down on my list of films to buy as they can be and yet still register on my radar.

I was actually really impressed with the announcements this time around. I think it's great they're releasing many of the largely forgotten films. They can't all be Sleepaway Camp and Escape from New York.
The Outing is wicked little film with lots of gory violence and T&A. It has a bit of a mean streak though with some rather unsettling elements. I'm really happy this is getting the HD treatment as I was very disappointed with the DVD. Cellar Dweller is just pure awesomeness and 100% cheese. The Curse IV aka Catacombs was surprisingly enjoyable. I remember the VHS cover so well. I've attached a pic of it for those interested in a bit of nostalgia. Haven't seen Godsend yet but looking forward to it. |

I'll still hold on to my UK DVD of The Lamp though, which includes the rare ship intro sequence missing from the US cut. |

Personally, I wouldn't mind if Shout had a release slate of just titles like The Outing and Catacombs. Eurohorror as well but I prefer some effort going into these. I wasn't too impressed with Shout's transfer for Exterminators of the Year 3000, although, to be fair, these movies will never really look pristine unless expensive restorations are done. But, yeah, I prefer these little gems over "big fish" titles that may have already received multiple releases.

Popped in my review copy tonight. The Godsend looks pretty good while I'd say the Outing is hit and miss, leaning towards soft.
At the start of some scenes there is a little stutter in the picture during The Outing. Not sure if that is just how that is or an issue with the disc. |
