Nah.

Nothing compares to watching a film on the big screen. I can't remember the last time I had to worry about other members of the audience spoiling the experience. Everybody's usually quiet and compliant.

The only drawback is the inability to pause whenever you want, but such is life.

My set up at home is pretty basic, so I disagree with that. I do dislike that they leave so many lights on now....Marcus Theaters has full lights on thru the trailers, which is annoying.

The people can suck, sometimes I don't hear a peep. I've noticed that going to see any horror films now is impossible, as the biggest douchers show up for them.

I don't mind the prices.

If I had the option of paying $30-40 to stay at home and watch a movie during its same theatrical run with lossless audio, etc. I'd much rather do it than go to the cinema.

I'd put up with a few sniffles and coughs to watch a movie with surround sound and a giant screen as opposed to a 26 inch with two speakers. The last movie I saw in theaters (Logan) was loud enough I felt it through the seat. Sometimes when I watch a movie here I have to put the subs on because I live near the freight tracks and quiet scenes get drowned out.

When watching Star Wars: Episode III in the theaters, there is the scene after Mace is dead, Palpatine says "Gooooood" was his very distinct voice. In the theater it was downright terrifying. I have yet to find a home theater experience that has replicated that sound as good as the theater.

It is one of the many examples of how a theater just cannot be replicated at home. You can't fake a giant room with such powerful speakers in a house.

With that said.... you have to pick you theater location and time you go very wisely. I saw Guardians of the Galaxy 2 on discount Tuesday night the week it came out. There were a few obnoxious people who made loud comments so the entire theater could hear. Sadly, they were all of the same race....

My 65-inch 4K and 7.1 surround sound system is definitely good enough for me and for the most part better than the experience than my local theater offers.

I haven't attended too many theatrical screening experiences that outright sucked, so i'm still happy to go to the theaters.

I'd agree with much of what was said. I can't stand the rudeness of people at the cinema and the huge prices as well as the ever increasing ads/commercials has made me stay away from them for the most part. If I do go, I go to the first showing on a Monday or Wednesday. While the picture at the place I go to is nice the exit lights bug me to no end and I have to be mindful of where I sit to avoid seeing them in my peripherals. I have a nice set up at home where I view most movies which is fine by me.

Home viewing can be great on a proper set up. Sitting through 30 to 40 minutes of adverts before the movie- after paying a fortune- isn't my idea of a good or even OK time. My idea of Hell. Let's not get started on the mobile phones situation.

I don't have such problems at the IMAX I now very rarely get the chance to attend in London (except for the prices of course). Folks shut up and stow their toys, and adverts are 15 to 20 minutes. Oh and Smaug's voice has great bass.

The only thing that ruins a movie is a crying kid. Other than that you cant beat the big screen....not even a 150 inch screen in a custom home theater can beat the big screen.

A big screen and awesome sound are great, but they're not much use if you're distracted and annoyed by folks who are more interested in socializing (meaning: talking, eating noisily, constantly getting up and going out to get more drinks and food, checking the cell phone etc.) than in watching the goddamn movie.

I very rarely have a bad experience at the theater. I live very close to two great theaters and I never pay more than $10 for a ticket. Don't know how other people are paying as much as $40, that's just beyond me. Almost never does anyone talk aloud during a movie or even check their phone where I am. I must be very lucky. I will continue to attend the movie theater and support them.

I seldom pay more $8.50 for a ticket and weekday screenings at my local AMC is only $3.99. I rarely buy refreshments so I don't have a big expenditure.
I never seem to be bothered by other people. Guess I'm lucky. Also I like the sound in a theater. I live in a apartment and can't crank up a big stereo system.

Me too. Haven't been since The Force Awakens, which was the only film I saw that year. And I will never, ever go again.

Might hit up a drive-in one day in the future, because there is still an experience attached to that. But regular cinemas are dead, and Hollywood knows it.

I go to Marcus theaters (morning only) and yeah those lights on during the pr views are annoying.

I would in a heartbeat do this!

I agree with the most part with the video and I do like the experience of watching a movie at my humble home theater. But since I can go to the theater during the week, I don't mind seeing a movie at my local Marcus theater. I will say though, if theater chains seriously enforced the no ******** or ****** in the auditorium, I would spend a lot more time and money going to the theater. One cell phone lit up totally ruins my experience at the theater. So far guys 10'years older than me (I am in my 40's) are the repeat offenders.

Oh and Avatar 3D looks awesome on my setup!

I still enjoy going to see movies at the theater.
For me, I have to map out those "irritating" factors before hand.
In regards to children and babies, I seek the later shows after 7pm because some theaters will keep them out after certain times.
If you want to avoid the children (and bratty teens, to some extent), go to the later shows.

My biggest pet peeve is when theaters don't mask their screens properly.
I've missed many films that I wanted to see because because of lazy projectionists and had to wait for the Blu-Ray, depending on how long they last in theaters or go to a different theater with people who knows what their doing. Luckily, I live 10 minutes from two theaters via public transportation, one with a legit IMAX screen and I haven't paid more than $10 for ANY ticket.

Most of everything else I disagree with.
