I haven't seen Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007) in years and therefore have been watching clips from both flicks on YouTube for the past couple of days, which have motivated me to purchase the double-feature BD of both movies. The clips have reminded me that they aren't great films but are decent; they're competently made, well casted, and fun, as well as funny.
The actors accurately portray their characters, especially Chris Evans as Johnny Storm, and they have great chemistry and really bring the protagonists to life; their humorous bickering and emotional consolations of one another effectively convey that they are a family, that is to say "Marvel's First Family." As for the Silver Surfer, I think that he is portrayed very well and accurately and comes across as awesome; I don't see any faults in his depiction at all. The only downside to these two movies is that they're too short and narratively simple. Hence, I understand why they aren't praised but don't see why they're so hated. Anyhow, how do you think Marvel Studios' own movie about the Fantastic Four will differ from these two? Do you think that it'll be tonally different? I ask because the lighthearted and humorous tone of these two flicks is right up the MCU's alley. Also, do you think that Marvel Studios will use practical effects or CGI for the thing? |

I personally think that a movie about the FF in the MCU should be exactly like the two from 2005 and 2007, but with a more complex narrative that has thematic subtleties, better special effects, and a longer running time (135 minutes). As for The Thing, I honestly think that they should use the same practical effects that were used in the films released in 2005 and 2007 but on a taller and more muscular actor.

Ideally, Fantastic Four has the blend of a dysfunctional family that has to work together harder than ever.
Guardians of the Galaxy is the closest to a Fantastic Four movie we got from the Marvel side, methinks. But don't give the Fox movies any ill will. The first movie was good, but the second one definitely took things up a notch and was better. |

I want to see Doom done justice, I can't wait for him and Galactus.
I don't know what to expect from a FF movie made by Marvel in all honesty. The only real knowledge I have of the Fantastic Four are from the 05 and 07 movies and I barely remember them, I was young when they released. |

The characters themselves. Because other Marvel properties like Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man and X-Men explore a bit more "grounded" themes and such. But with Fantastic Four, you have that fun family dynamic incorporated into these strange and cosmic adventures just like MCU. Marvel doesn't need to make a Spider-Man 2 or Logan with Fantastic Four. That MCU's style is everything you need to make a great Fantastic Four movie.

Yeah, the tone in the first two Fantastic Four movies were just fine. It's just that they didn't get the characters right. Except for The Human Torch and The Thing, though. Those two were spot on. But they didn't do enough to make us care for the rest of the characters. Doctor Doom got shitted on the most. Sure Marvel is no better with their villains either, but this is Doctor F***ing Doom. Marvel's greatest villain (not you, Thanos) and Stan Lee's favorite of all time. Hell, Darth Vader was heavily inspired by Doctor Doom. Now that sorcery is now established in the MCU, Marvel can now give us a comic book accurate Doctor Doom. Where as Fox always made Doctor Doom into the typical scientist turned to evil mutate cliche for some stupid reason.

Kate Mara didn't look good either. You can tell she was wearing a wig at times as well and she didn't even had blue-eyes. So it has nothing to do with being Latina (Jessica Alba's mother is actually a white blonde in real life). They just need to cast an ACTUAL blue-eyed blonde next time.

Something similar happened to Jessica Alba in the Fantastic Four films as well. The director wanted her to stay pretty in an emotional scene. He didn't want Jessica Albs too be too emotional because he didn't think would look good crying.
