Either in 1996 or 1997, the movie It's Pat aired on a network affiliate on some Saturday afternoon in my home town, and before that occurred, I had no idea the movie existed. I was aware of the character and SNL sketches, but the movie was a surprise to my young self.

Reader, I found the movie hilarious. The ability to hold the gag of gender-uncertainty for 90 whole minutes was genuinely impressive. Dave Foley's character of Chris was a worthy addition to the Pat universe. The film also acted as my introduction to the band Ween, by way of featuring a song that I would soon discover was the only one of theirs that I actually enjoyed listening to.

It's been… gosh… literal decades now, since I've tried listening to any other Ween songs. Maybe my tastes have changed. But if I'm honest with myself, I know I'll probably not ever care enough to check. I shake my head and laugh to myself. The Werther's Original in my mouth makes a small smacking noise as suck it against my cheek. And then I die, suddenly but peacefully, of a brain hemorrhage. The song Linger by The Cranberries continues playing on as I lay collapsed and deceased in my study, and my secretary now stands alone, concerned that she'll soon stand falsely accused of murder.
