Default Dave Made a Maze (2017)

I'm not usually one to start threads, so...yeah...

It's not available on Amazon or any of the normal sites yet, but if you go to the Dave Made A Maze website, you can pre-order the DVD for $15, and the Bluray for $18. Shipping included. When I put my pre-order in, the response I got said they're planning to ship in late September(ish)

Here's a trailer, in case you're interested:

Did you ever receive this, and is it a pressed BD or a BD-R?

I have not gotten it yet. Their website currently says shipping "mid-October", but I haven't received any shipping notices recently, so...

**edit**

Just checked Amazon, which says release is 10/24, so I'm not counting on it being shipped before that.

So this arrived today. I didn't expect the cardboard case, but it does make sense. It also had a little card with an autograph, and a tiny origami swan. The whole thing came wrapped in a piece of cardboard tied with twine.

Looking forward to watching it again.

Pressed disc (blue bottom) or BD-R (black bottom)?

Does it REALLY matter? It's a good movie.

It matters to me - it determines whether I will buy the disc or wait to stream it or something eventually.

If the way that a disc is pressed stops you from being able to enjoy a movie, then maybe you're doing something wrong.

I really hate all the pedantic "does it have a sleeve", "how was it pressed", "what's the aspect ratio" whining around here.

It's a movie.

Enjoy the damn movie.

I never said it would stop me from enjoying the movie - I did say it would prevent me from spending $20 on a disc, a decision I am allowed to make. Thank you for withholding information you could have easily provided to me, the only other person on this forum who seems interested in this movie.

I'm going to guess this is a BD-R. Gravitas Ventures distributed the film and they usually work with FilmRise. Though a few FilmRise releases have gotten a limited run of pressed discs, I don't believe this to be one of them.

I now have the info, and I will not withhold it from you!

The Gravitas Ventures disc available through Amazon and various e-tailers is a BD-R.

The disc available directly from the Dave Made A Maze website is a real pressed Blu-ray AND has exclusive special features.

Forget which version I got but it kind of looked like a bd-r. Not home to check.

What are the exclusive extras?

The pressed BD from the movie's website has "20-minute behind-the-scenes “making of” featurette, writer/director commentary track for full movie, deleted scenes, 5.1 surround sound mix, trailers, theatrical intro videos, and the worst fundraising pitch video you’ve ever seen."

Here's the copy I have. It's from Gravitas Adventures and I didn't buy it from the DMAM website. But it does have some special features and has a yellowish color bottom layer. Is this a pressed disc?

[Show spoiler]

I can't really tell from your picture of the bottom of the disc, but I don't think yellow is a good sign. Pressed Blu-rays should be blue-ish.

Not a fan of bd-r. Assuming this one might be one and so I'll probably have to archive it to hard drive to be safe.

I'm probably gonna unnecessarily open up can of worms here with this statement, but what a sad, bizarre conversation on this thread so far.

You see, I was excited to check out this thread when I discovered it. My friends produced and worked on this independent film. I didn't know anything about the story before I watched it, and when I finally went to a screening in Santa Monica, I loved it! So with that open disclosure shared, regardless how the discs are pressed, I hope folks who love to support independent films will seek this out on any format (tho I know you get bonus features owning it on disc) and give it a watch. Plenty of reviews out there to let you know it's a bizarre, charming, funny, scrappy little film. They're not making any fortune off the movie, they didn't get the big distribution deal they dreamed of. But like the producer says in the bonus features, they made a movie they'd love to see rather than the safe one boy-meets-girl one.
