3. Stand by Me (?)

What do you lot make of the numbering factor? Is this bothering the OCD collector in you? Which releases will be next?
not bothering the OCD collector in me but i can't stand the packaging and am sticking with the U.S. equivalents. Actually think though we should start to talk more about the discs themselves now... all I see are comments about packaging recently...

I originally only pre-ordered Stand By Me but now I know it's numbered I've had to buy the other two because I'm really OCD like that. It's an expensive problem

Numbering is something that usualy puts me off. I can't see any connection with these titles either apart from them been three very different great films.

I wonder what no.4 will be?

Yet ANOTHER marketing ploy due to the fact that they know certain consumers won't rest until they've got the full set. Personally I'm not that lame or susceptible. "SUCKERS!"

I've bought the first 2 and have Stand by Me on pre order but numbers don't worry me. These 3 films are ones I would have bought anyway. If any in the series are films I have no interest I won't bother getting them. My films are all alphabetical anyway

I hate the artwork for these too - I'm seriously considering getting the US release of Taxi Driver now..

The cover artwork for Boyz n the Hood here shows that it will be #7 in the Sony collection.

Das Boot also shares the gold/white style, and most likely will be #6 as it's being released the same time as Boyz n the Hood.

with Stand By Me being #3, that means #4 and #5 are a mystery at the moment.

Contenders for the current two free spots (all recently released/announced in the US)

Muppets from Space
The Muppets Take Manhattan
Stuart Little
Stuart Little 2
Zathura: A Space Adventure
Jumanji
The Cable Guy
Legends of the Fall
A River Runs Through It
Heavy Metal
Once Upon a Time in Mexico
Desperado
El Mariachi
Orlando

Im betting on the two I have in bold.

I hope not, they are all average to poor films.

If the previous releases are anything to go by, the common thread here seems to be the Empire 5-star reviews, so I think you can cross most, if not all of those off the list.

Maybe Sex, Lies and Videotape and I wouldn't put it past them to perhaps repackage stuff like Dr Strangelove or Jerry Maguire.

Why on earth would they have Once Upon A Time In Mexico in this range? It's decent, at best.

Anyone know if the first two are still shipping with the slips? Wouldn't mind getting all this collection as they're all decent enough films.

I received Taxi Driver from Amazon very recently and the slip was included.

I've personally never seen either of the ones I put in bold, but they just seem/sound like the most likely ones out of that list to be part of this range, as the rest of them are either from the family genre, or ones like The Cable Guy which I just don't think would fit in the range very well.

Plus those two I said are the only ones currently with placeholders on Play.

I find it very odd that Boyz n the Hood and Das Boot are going to be numbers 6 and 7, when so far we've only had Taxi Driver (1), Bridge on the River Kwai (2) and Stand By Me (3), surely it would make more sense to put them as 4 and 5 and have them in order of Blu-ray release?

Yeah, seems very strange. Maybe #4 and #5 could be 'A Passage To India' (which is out in the US only) and 'Monty Python And The Holy Grail'. None of those on the list feel on par with those released/announced imo.

Might be like MoC and number them as the project was started rather than when they were released.
