Default Austin Powers (2018 release)

Anyone have any details on the Winkler Film Austin Powers release? I think it is the first German release, last year. Eg same old transfer as the UK one or a new one?

https://www.winklerfilm.de/filmdetai...in-powers.html

They are showing a 95 minute runtime also.

I have it. I don't know if it's new or not but the picture isn't a revelation. It's good enough for me. I haven't watched the whole thing yet so didn't notice which version it is.

I'm afraid I have no idea what I'm doing there. I got this:
Quote:
QUICK SUMMARY:

Disc Label: AUSTIN POWERS
Disc Size: 24,147,111,380 bytes
Protection: AACS
Playlist: 00017.MPLS
Size: 0 bytes
Length: 1:34:40.841
Total Bitrate: 0.00 Mbps
Video: MPEG-4 AVC Video / 0 kbps / 1080p / 23.976 fps / 16:9
Audio: German / DTS-HD Master Audio / 5.1 / 48 kHz
Audio: English / DTS-HD Master Audio / 5.1 / 48 kHz
Audio: Undetermined / LPCM Audio / 2.0 / 48 kHz
Subtitle: Undetermined / 0.000 kbps
Subtitle: German / 0.000 kbps
Subtitle: English / 0.000 kbps
My BD drive is a bit ropey so I really struggled to get that. If you need more, I'll need instructions!
My (uneducated) thoughts on the disc are:
1) I would think it's from an old scan. It's a bit dirty but nowhere near as bad as the UK dvd. This picture is much clearer than the dvd but it's not from a 4k scan.
2) It's got the henchman and orange sherrberrt.
3) All menus are in German.
4) I didn't see anything that looks like a faulty transfer which is what I understand is the problem we are concerned about. Nothing jerky or blurry.
5) Note I'm watching on a 1080 plasma so might not be the best judge but I can't imagine this particular film looking any better.

New Line has the best picture, but Optimum disc is uncut.

I assumed the German editions were the same master as the latter.

Oh nice, it has that rare Christian Slater cameo. I thought the only thing prior that had that scene was the Australian DVD

Why is this cameo considered to be rare? I know this movie ONLY with this cameo. It is the way it was always published in Germany.

There were only two cuts, the Domestic Cut and the International Cut, the IC is about five minutes longer and features the 2 scenes with Christian Slater and about 20 differences (extended and alternative scenes).

I am certain the version I saw at the UK cinema didn't have Christian Slater but did have the henchmen. I was a bit of a fan at the time and would have noticed.

The only thing missing from the UK cinema version was the joke about Prince Charles having an affair (hastily re-edited as Princess Diana died just the week before).

The US version, although released first, was re-edited to re-tune the humour, some of it Anglo-centric; a slight trim was also made for a PG-13.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that has always been the case, and that cameo isn't in the UK Blu-ray. I think it is in the deleted scenes.

Sounds like the German version is the proper uncut one.

I think there were a few uk dvds but the one I had did have the scene (Oops, just realised you were talking BD not dvd). It was the first time I had seen it as I previously had the US laserdisc. The LD had the henchmen as deleted scenes with title cards which, again, I'm sure were in the
cinema version I saw.

UK version did include both the Slater cameo and the hencemen scene with Rob Lowe.

I got the US laserdisc shortly afterwards and was disappointed that those two specific scenes were missing from it.

There are two henchmen scenes and two Slater scenes.

I notice some B-Roll footage on the German BD. Is this exclusive as it seems it was on the old German one too but nowhere else? It's not something I'm intereted in but someone might be!

And all four are in the UK version and always have been.

This - I’ve never seen a version of the movie without the scenes in and I’ve only ever seen UK versions (VHS, DVD, Blu)

That's because there are two home media versions. The UK always gets the long one, the US always gets the short one.

Actually, the differences between the US and the International version are way more than just the henchmen/cameo scenes.
