These look really nice, but have to stick with the Alex Ross versions. If anyone hasnt purchased these classic monster movies, they are GREAT! Highly recommended.

Nope. I'm glad these are coming in 4K, and the Steels look good. But I have the 30-film complete collection. When that gets replicated in 4K, I am in. I am done buying single titles, smaller collections, or any other incremental improvement until the whole shebang is done, multiple copies of Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein included.

Yeah, look, I understand wanting people to hear your views on this new set. I know you might think someone might miss your message unless you post it on every single listing for each of these movies, but that's simply not a good solution.

Instead of incentivizing someone who might be in a similar mindset to feel a kindred spirit with you, you're actively dissuading people from appreciating your message. It comes off as self-centered and annoying. Not to mention that the type of nuts like me on these forums are likely to visit each one of the threads to read what people have to say anyway, so they will have seen your message regardless, even if you only write it in one of the forums. Please avoid doing this in the future, or at the very least, vary your text so you don't sound like a bot.

As for me, for some reason I've never really been able to get into these horror classics. Maybe my tolerance has become too high for scary content, and therefore the films don't have the full impact they might have had for viewers even up until the 80's (when much less subtle horror began). I don't know. I tried Dracula, Frankenstein, Nosferatu. None provided suitable entertainment to watch all the way through for me. I'm gonna take this gorgeous looking set as a second chance to try and appreciate them, though. Maybe even if I don't end up liking them again, something in the special features will make me appreciate them more.

Wish it was OG color poster art, but I don’t have those.

So I preordered all three!

Frankenstein has some of the most spectacular sets and cinematography in hollywood history. Boris Karloff is still a knockout as his tragic monster as well. Definitely give it another watch, the improved shadow detail and black levels should be a visual treat.

Yeah, I'll give them all another try. I also just watched this video, and found it pretty interesting. A perspective I hadn't heard before that paints the genre in a different light:

I appreciate your attitude.

I first saw the Universal Monster Movies as a young child in The '60s and I enjoyed them but they didn't ever scare me. I just liked monsters being monsters. I watched the box set recently and I still appreciate the craft involved and the times in which they were created.

Thanks. I always try to come to an understanding with classic art, and try to view them from the perspective of audiences of the time. I feel it provides a lot of satisfaction and connection to people/traditions of the past when it finally "clicks." By speaking to people like you here, and watching some video essays made about the topic online, I'm starting to understand the appeal of these movies more and more. So hopefully when I watch them again, I'll be in the correct mindset to really appreciate them this time. I just hope they'll continue this set beyond the four films included in the regular box set. Speaking of which, the invisible man hasn't even been listed yet on Best Buy. Maybe they're spreading them out in consideration for customer's budgets, which is a good strategy.

Also, I found this video online, and after watching, I believe it is right down your alley time-wise. You might enjoy it yourself:

Isn't the Invisible Man also coming to Steelbook as well? Don't see it on BestBuy site yet. Just the 3 so far.

Is Zillamon51 a mod or something, or does someone on here just have something personal against me? My comment in rebuke of his childish spamming of my response to him (posted on three separate comment threads) mysteriously disappeared, along with the thanks I received from another on here. But his spamming replies have not been deleted. Interesting.

Was it the word "creep" or the simple religious "god bless" that was too vulgar of a response? This site is likely well on the way to being the next Amazon or IMDb Reviews/Rotten Tomatoes/Youtube Comments, and in that case, ban me now Mods. I'd rather stand by a forum that actually allows for freedom of speech (within reason, of course), not one that selectively chooses who is allowed to speak and/or criticize.

I would simply add "Zillamon51" to your Ignore list - just like I did. He's not worth the trouble...

You've got interesting and worthwhile to things to say on these threads, so don't let people like that get under your skin
