Default Village of the Damned (1995) (Collector's Edition)

Release date: April 12

Quote:
*Street date, new art & more announced for John Carpenter’s VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED**

We have another classic Carpenter film to add to our already robust collection of the master’s work: 1995’s VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED will be coming to Blu-ray in the U.S. & North America for the first time on April 12th! The film stars Christopher Reeve (Superman), Kirstie Alley (Cheers), Mark Hamill (Star Wars), Linda Kozlowski (Crocodile Dundee), Michael Pare (Eddie and the Cruisers) and Meredith Salenger (Dream a Little Dream).

Extras are still in progress and will be announced in full at a later date but…we can confirm some now that should please many: New interviews with John Carpenter and his wife Producer Sandy King Carpenter and a brand-new segment of “Horror’s Hallowed Grounds” (with its host Sean Clark) are already shot and completed!

With this official street date announce also comes the reveal of our newly-designed key art which was illustrated by one of our veteran creative forces Nathan Thomas Milliner (Day of the Dead, Dolls, The Burning, Halloween III). If you order directly through at https://www.shoutfactory.com/film/fi...ctor-s-edition
you’ll also receive this on a FREE limited-edition 18” x 24” poster with purchase (and while supplies last).

***MORE JOHN CARPENTER ON THE WAY!***

We’re pleased to start off December on a high note with the announcement of a future release that’s been requested several times over the years: John’s Carpenter’s 1995 remake of VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED!

This underrated shocker will be making its long overdue appearance on blu-ray late next Spring / early Summer. And, yes, it is planned as a Collector’s Edition (Extras are already in progress.)
smile emoticon

Our 2016 schedule is shaping up with lots more surprises. Expect more announcements in the beginning of next year (but we may drop some more this month before the holidays).

That doesn't make Village of the Damned any better. What makes it even worse is that it is a poor remake of a good film.

Doubt this will be a remaster since it's considered one of Carpenter's weakest and isn't popular at all. Expecting the same manipulated Universal master that has been released in other parts of the world.

A lot of Debbie Downers in this thread...

I'll agree that this Carpenter remake has nothing on the original movie, but it's still a good bit of 1990s horror fun...and it's far from being Carpenter's worst film.

Yaaaass!! I've been waiting for this movie to come out on blu! I actually really love this movie, it used to show on TV all the time and I couldn't help but watch it anytime it was on. I do not think it is John Carpenter's worse by far. It's cheesy good fun. All the negative people need to stop trolling and move on and let us enjoy this!

The original is the superior film, yes, but I like this one quite a bit as well. Glad to see it finally getting a stateside release.

Oh sure, not to long after I bought the UK Blu. I'll double dip for a collectors version though. Not great but have always enjoyed it.

I liked the film but remember very fondly what a terrific performance Christopher Reeve turned in on this movie ... Wish this was coming sooner but better late than never !

Carpenter only did this movie because they promised him his Bill-Philips-scripted-Kurt-Russell-starring Creature from the Black Lagoon remake if he did this for Universal.

INSTEAD there was a studio shake up after this was made, and the deal was tossed. Breaks my heart.

Excellent news! Instant purchase for me. I've always enjoyed this movie and prefer it over the original. One of the last Carpenter movies that really has that "classic Carpenter" tone and style to it. An eclectic cast and solid score, too.

And LOL at the people posting just to say they don't like the film. Congrats to you. Do you also go out of your way to walk into certain stores or restaurants and declare you don't like what they sell, then walk back out?

I have the UK disc and really enjoyed watching it. Not sure I'd double dip, it's not something I'd need to see extras on.
I do wish the original would be released, maybe this will encourage whoever has to get it sorted.
