Nice, but...

(Rant incoming) ...why do they (the royal ‘they...’ any company who does it) insist on putting that ‘kerfuffing’ copyright text on the back? I will never understand it.

Is it to persuade people who were about to commit copyright infringement not to do so? Or in case people didn’t quite remember the company who made the steelbook they just spent ~£28 on? Or for some time in the future when you couldn’t quite remember the year this was released and you couldn’t tilt the thing up to read it on the bottom edge instead? WHY?

Weird.

Never really got bothered with the copyright text. But now that you have mentioned it, it really does annoy me. The back is beautiful and purple and they had to put white text

So does the Best Buy versión have that Signature Collection logo on the front and this one not?

At least it's only the C Disney 2019...

And not a paragraph worth of text like some of the older or other region steels have on the back.

Are we even getting a regular 4K UHD of this or just a steelbook? Nothing I can find listed.

Second Aladdin (1992) steelbook this year.

I’m 99.9% sure an amaray is coming and will start popping up on retailers tomorrow (the SteelBook itself hasn’t technically been announced). Glad to see the UK following suit after we missed out on The Little Mermaid. We didn’t get the 3D release, either. Disney UK really pays that movie dirt.

True, but in a way it's almost more annoying - that it's so close to looking nice and clean... whereas the ones you describe are kind of like 'uhuh, so you just actually want it to look bad... ok then'.

I know, first world problems and all that... I still like this design very much overall.

I know what you mean.

I'm the same with title less steels. Sometimes I just want the artwork and nothing else on the front.

Sometimes, it makes the steel better with the text. Just depends on the style.

As long as it's small on the bottom I don't really mind it.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the two DACs we've got on 4K in the UK (The Lion King and Aladdin) are also the ones with live-action remakes out this year. I wouldn't be surprised if Disney is scheduling 4K titles for the UK based on their cinema release schedule as tie-ins. If Maleficent and Frozen also come to the UK, I'm probably right. The UK probably won't see The Little Mermaid 4K, if it does at all, until the remake comes out in 2021/22.

But then that doesn't explain why the UK got skipped for Toy Story 1-3, unless a surprise announcement for November comes.

I think double-dipping on SteelBooks is plenty enough for this movie already.

Don't think I need a third and this artwork makes it easy to draw the line here.

Pre-ordered. Surprised an amaray hasn’t popped up (with the much nicer artwork), but I’ll take it.

Looks like the Blu is a port of the old disc. Specs list it as 1.85:1 (not 1.66:1) and only lists legacy extras - no Let's Not Be Too Hasty: The Voices Of Aladdin or Sing-Along Version of the Movie.

Excellent find, I can sell that off then and offset some of the cost. I’d import the far nicer US amaray, but really all I want is the 4K disc.

What do you guys think about the signature collection logo? You like it better with one or not? I can't really decide between the Zavvi or the Best Buy. So far I just been getting the Best Buy ones. I do like the Zavvi slip baskets though. Been missing those because all BB has are the cheap throwaway half slips.

I feel like that signature logo looks nice on TLM and TLK. It stands out a bit on this one.

But at this point I do have all the signature ones I guess so might as well just stick with best buy.

Hmmm, choices I guess. Probably just go BB to make the collection match.
