Heard such good things but the cast is awful. Wish they could have put together a good cast for this one

All I want for Christmas is for Oprah Winfrey to go away.

Looks like a great film though.

Ah another movie that will completely ignore what a serial adulterer MLK was despite him thinking himself a moral authority. Let's just continue to ignore these things because can't tell the truth when it comes to people deemed great.

No one is immune to temptation; we all battle it every day. This film is about King's civil rights work, not his personal life.

What Moviefan2k4 said. Pay attention this movie is not a biopic. And plenty of people know and have told about MLK's infidelity. So what. It's not going to change what he did for this country.

I understand that this isn't a biopic but continuing to show this man as some hero and great human being is just continuing to lie to people. Perpetuating a myth. I guess it doesn't matter if someone is a complete scumbag as long as they do something for the country? Would he still get a pass if he killed someone? Where is the line? Adultery is a horrible thing. But it's okay. He presented himself to the world as something he wasn't. It needs to be addressed and not pushed to the side.

It's funny that you're debating here like you're certain that part had been excluded. I've seen Selma, and it's actually touched upon at points during the movie...

He is a hero. As close as one can be. He's also a human being and as such he is flawed. I think calling someone a 'complete scumbag' because he cheated on his wife is going way too far.

And asking would he get a pass if killed someone? WTF. Of course he wouldn't. Adultery is not the best thing but it's not even close to the worse thing a human being has ever done. You are making way too big a deal about something that in the big picture isn't. And as I said his adultery has been addressed. People don't care as much as you do about it. Get over it.

Let's just write off everything he did for the Civil Rights movement because he committed adultery. They should have just made the film about that.

Whoever Pounder is, I hope you really saw the movie and hated it, because if you didn't, you just revealed the kind of person you are to the entire forum.

You make literally no sense.
Should we then discount his life's work (fight for Civil rights), and what he died for, because he has committed adultery?
I'm pretty sure he is not known for being a perfect person or a saint, but rather for having had the courage to stand for Civil Rights, and mostly in a non violent way.
One does not equate the other.

According to Imdb, the only place one could have seen the movie without being part of the production team would be the AFI Fest, which was on Nov 11th.

After that the film will have a limited release in 2 days, and open wide on January 9th.

Wow, you really got a wrap sense of reality. Adultery is something for the husband and wife to deal with. Now would you say the same thing about FDR or JFK?

You're judging this from the trailer, it would be hard to market a MLK biopic without making him look like a saint. The film will probably touch upon it, but it wouldn't get people to the cinema if it was brought up in the trailer, since people already have an image of MLK and I'm guessing they'd rather sell that.

I did see it. Found it to be very pretentious. Was very boring and slow paced IMO. Thought "The Butler" was better and that's saying something.

Here's the thing, and I've said this probably about 1,000 times in my life; and it's unfortunate that I've had to do that.

If we judge everyone by the worse thing they ever did, then we are all horrible people. That's a fact. It's just the way it is.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would think that MLK didn't do more good than harm in his lifetime. His good actions helped millions of people, generations after generation. His bad actions did harm his family. But those two things are hardly comparable in any way.

A lot of great people in history have had serious flaws. It's what we call the human condition.
