Default Andrew Luck retiring from NFL at age 29

Multiple sources report that Luck has informed the Colts he is retiring from football, citing "mental fatigue". Walking away from $58 million in gauranteed contract money.

"Shocked" just doesn't even cover it...

Clearly it wasn't just about the money for him. He wasn't having fun. Good for him for walking away.

Better to call it quits before things got worse and take the team down with him.

Shocking is right, but also understandable. What's interesting is that the Colts really haven't tried to fight him on any of the money that he's owed. They're probably thinking he'll take a year or two off and then come back, but I doubt it. (And for Luck's long-term health, I hope he stays retired. I'm sure TV networks will be knocking down his door in no time anyway, and there's always coaching opportunities down the road if he's so inclined.)

He’s an intelligent guy and I’m sure there are plenty of opportunities for him in broadcasting, coaching, etc. His father is also commissioner of the current XFL so I could see him doing something there behind the scenes.
