These are the kind of movies that most will probably forget about in a short time, they're not entirely bad but there's nothing much in the way of making them really great, and yet you wouldn't mind watching them if the occasion comes up.
My pick would be MacGruber. It has a handful of scenes that crack me up despite their juvenile sense of humor and I enjoy watching it every now and a long while, but I can't honestly say its a great movie. |

Valerian and the City of 1000 Planets. I recognize that it is pretty terrible, but I’ve watched it several times already. Something about that story just hooks me.
Also, I love Macgruber. Top 10 comedy of the past decade, IMO. |

I find this hard to figure out, where to draw the line between bad and "meh," and how to pick just one when I feel equally "meh" about many movies.
I'll settle on The Man With the Golden Gun. I mean, I feel a little meh about all of the Roger Moore Bond films and greatly prefer the other actors' renditions. Doesn't mean I don't watch and enjoy them though, the camp can be endearing when I'm in the right mood. But I have seen MWTGG many times since I was a teenager. I know it's hardly the best of the series and it's not even a good adaptation of the source material. What wins me over is Christopher Lee's character, whom I still find quite chilling. I like how the story unfolds. The Thai locations are nice. The peril and stunts are modestly thrilling. I also can't knock the belly-dancing scene, or any scene with Maud Adams and Britt Ekland. And who doesn't love Hervé Villechaize? Sure, Clifton James' return is cringey, the slide whistle during the movie's best stunt is cringey, the plot doesn't always make sense, and there's a lot of absurdities (including sticking wings on Scaramanga's crappy station wagon and having it fly). But I love the villain and his interplay with Bond--watching them debate, and ultimately duel, is the highlight for me and the film builds it up superbly. But it gets to the point where I ask if this is really a "meh" film, or a guilty pleasure. It kinda does stand out to me and remains memorable. So if this doesn't quite count, I'd probably fall back on For Your Eyes Only, which I feel is the blander film, but also a much better story with some great setpieces and more gravitas. |

I'd say 'Tron Legacy'. The production design is great, they did a brilliant job updating the look of the old film. Almost everything else about the film (plot, action, characters) mostly ranges from "competent" to "pretty good", with nothing about it being outright bad yet never being hugely impressive either. I'm always happy to watch it.

Ghost in the Shell. I know it wasnt received well and isn’t great at all but I like it. The 3D presentation at home is phenomenal.

'Family Business' with Sean Connery, Matthew Broderick and Dustin Hoffman; the performances are great, Connery is a rogueish charmer, there's great character work going on and the robbery the trio pull off is a real nail biter. More of a character piece than caper film.

But by the time I finally saw it, I was impressed by what a good film it was (compared to what people were saying about it). But I didn't really see it until just before IW on streaming. |
