Based on the UK Planet Earth II release, the 4K discs were 2160p24 whilst the included regular blu-rays were 1080i50.

Looking forward to this.

Planet Earth II was amazing, but very clear throughout that most of the underwater stuff was cut for this documentary.

Is there a possibility for past Attenborough stuff to come to UHD? i.e. was anything in the past (e.g. Planet Earth I, Africa, The Hunt, etc.) filmed in higher than 1080p?

All those docs you name are filmed in 4K or higher. BBC has 4K policy for years now. Except for Planet Earth I (1080)

But will they have used different cameras and therefore would it be apparent that there is a noticable difference in PQ like in PE II UHD?

It depends what kind of footage they wanna film. Long takes on remote-locations, like that snow leopard scene, was in lesser quality.

On Planet Earth II, all kinds of cameras were used. Like the RED 5K, ARRI Amira (4K/UHD).

Does anyone know if this will have more true 4K footage than PE II?

I thought the finished presentation was fantastic for PE II, just hoping there will be less 2k in the mix.

Pre-ordered with Amazon, but other than the picture I can't see anything that claims it is the 4K release, so I am wondering if there's a mix up somewhere. Hopefully will become clearer as time goes on...

Amazon cleared it up - they had the images for regular blu and 4K the wrong way round. Cancelled my pre-order.
