Hopefully it's loaded with extras
Sweet! This is at the top of my must have list. I will be holding off until this one comes out. I hope it gets a better transfer too!

Most likely the same disc that was already released.

I hope this is a new edition with the DVD extras included. If it's just a re-issue of the previous disc...

Kevin Smith movies tend to have extremely entertaining extras, sometimes even better than the movie itself. I was so disappointed that the J&SBSB blu was barebones. The only reason I even own it is because it came in the box set with Clerks and Chasing Amy. I'd definitely double dip for the extras.

If it is exactly the same, then why the pre-order status? Why would Amazon have a different listing, if it is the same?

Hoping for an inexpensive combo pack so I can dump my barebones release.

Because a different studio now has the distribution rights to it. Same thing with Adventureland. Disney originally released it, now Lionsgate has the rights, and they are releasing it on May 3 - same day as JASBSB.

This is some great news! I really hope they include the missing extras. The old release was one of my top priorities, but not anymore. It really sucks that they put Oh What a Lovely Tea Party on Clerks already, because it would make so much more sense here.

yeah i just put the extras disc from the dvd set in with the blu problem solved, it's not like they'd put out the cash to put the extras in HD.

I will consider double dipping (I already have the DVD and existing Blu-Ray) if this new release includes any of the following:

*Special features carried over from the DVD, preferably with as many of them in high def as possible (if most or all of them are in SD, it's not as much of an incentive since I can already watch them in SD with the DVD). I highly doubt that this will happen, though.

*A brand new transfer that improves over the original BD. Not that the existing transfer is bad, but it is one of the very early Disney/Buena Vista BDs, and many of them were done with Mpeg-2 based encodes, and there is room for improvement.

*Having some kind of new feature(s) included on this disc that we haven't previously gotten (though I'm not sure what never-before-seen extras could be included since the making-of was included on the Clerks BD). I guess it would be nice if this ended up being some kind of 10th anniversary release with a new commentary track (preferably inaddition to the original and not in liu of it like in the case of Chasing Amy on BD), and/or maybe a 10th anniversary Q&A recording.

Wow, it's hard to believe that it's almost 10 years since this came out. It seems like just yesterday. I saw this about 4 times in the theater.

So, what's with this re-release being put out by Lionsgate anyway? I wonder why titles like this and AdventureLand are being lisenced out to them. Not that it's a big deal, but it just seems odd (particularly in the case of AdventureLand, which is a relatively recent movie).

Disney sold Miramax to an investor group in December. So, all Miramax titles are now no longer with Disney and have all be re-licensed out to different distributors.

The answer to "why" is simple... Disney no longer owns them and no longer has right to sell them.

I recently just got this.... but it would be worth the upgrade if it came with the special features.
