Universal Pictures and Turbine Medien present another collector's edition as a result of their cooperation: the Psycho Legacy Collection - Deluxe Edition contains 8 BluRays with the following titles: Psycho (Uncut), Psycho II, Psycho III, Bates Motel (1987), Psycho IV - The Beginning, Psycho (1998 Remake) as well as the Uncut version of Psycho with the German localized picture master containing the original 1960 cut of Hitchcock's Psycho.

The set will also contain over 12 hours of special features, including unpublished materials as well as a feature-length documentary about the famous shower scene. Also, there is a 120-page hardcover book (in German), Art cards, posters, letter replicas, a letterhead block as well as a Do Not Disturb door sign from the Bates Motel.

Edit: I also got clarification from Turbine: Psycho will only be in the uncut version, both in English and in German localization.

Is the included documentary about the shower scene Alexandre O. Philippe's '78/52' which was released last year ?

Is the TV movie 'Bates Motel' presented in HD ?

Both versions of Psycho (with English localization / with German localization and letter) will feature the uncut version.

Nope, it's SD only. This is the only source there is.

For the avoidance of doubt: The uncut material for PSYCHO originates from a very good print which we were able to track down. It blends seamlessly, so for the first time ever you'll be able to see the version that Mr Hitchcock delivered in pristine HD.

There is an alternate shot of someone writing a letter in German instead of the original English in that version. Are you keeping the original English version of that shot in this uncut version?

According to my info from Turbine, there will be two versions: one is the uncut version with English credits and letter, and another is the uncut version with German credits and letter.

As written above there are two "versions" included. English/int'l and German. Both are uncut (=have the bits and pieces re-inserted).

This would be really useful to know, and I think it makes a lot of sense to release the single disc at the same time. For the German market, this will be the premiere of all the sequels and the remake on Blu-ray, so there is plenty for the German-speaking buyer in the box set. However, for international buyers, there is limited appeal in buying the box set since the sequels and remake, along with most if not all of the extras, are already available in the US, UK, Australia or elsewhere.

It would be a shame if a single disc release with the uncut first film were withheld for several months or longer, so I hope the plan is to release it at the same time as the box set.

No. For those just looking for Psycho, there is a Psycho release available in every territory. It's correct it's not the uncut version, but that is (just being honest here) not our concern. We've worked for over a year on this box set and it's going to be released as a whole, not in pieces.

Of course you're perfectly entitled to put out these titles as you wish, but there's a touch of arrogance in your stance and tone.

You do realise the lack of an individual release will not only diminish sales but encourage bootlegs?

That's money you could be making.

If PSYCHO (uncut) was €20 solo, just 50 sales (which you would get from this thread alone) would be a €1,000.

Instead you miss out on €1,000 and create 50 new torrent users.

Do I want PSYCHO? Yes. Am I paying €150 for a box set I don't want ? No. But then you know your market, right?

Well I wrote I am just plain honest here. Apologies if the straight wording sounds harsh. It's a release for the German market which hasn't seen any of the films released, except for the original. So we're doing a box set only. The Blues Brothers e.g. got the collectible release for the Deluxe Edition, plus two trimmed down versions, but not a vanilla release.

To be frank again: What I dislike is pushing someone with the threat that something illegal is going to happen if one does not do as recommended. That is never the basis for a discussion at an equal footing. It's like telling someone the car is going to be stolen if the price does not come down.
